Re: TDK's International Test Cricket Update's

Bazball failed

Has rooted Root’s batting. Maybe the way he played today was because of his finger injury and playing normally may of hampered him too much? But him playing in the aggressive Bazball style actually annoys me in a way, he's already that good surely he doesn't need to change the way he plays and play the ridiculous shots?

Re: Australian Domestic Season 2023/2024

8 catches for Carey

First class record in an innings is 7, wonder what the List A record is?

Edit - Google is a wonderful thing!

Carey is now the equal record holder - https://www.espncricinfo.com/records/most-dismissals-in-an-innings-283805
It's now the record for Australian ODD matches. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240215/ba742dd58d27cfbac4d193e0302149de.jpg

Carey with 10 has the equal most dismissals in a match for an Australian wicketkeeper in test cricket, Gilchrist the other also against NZ in Hamilton back in 2000.

Re: Australian International Summer 2023/24

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/nz-vs-aus-2023-24-stats-carey-second-to-gilchrist-new-zealand-s-first-home-series-defeat-since-2017-1424439

13- Consecutive Test series without a defeat for New Zealand at home before losing to Australia. New Zealand's last series defeat was in a three-match series against South Africa in March 2017. New Zealand played 13 two-match Test series at home between the two series defeats, winning in ten while another three ended in a draw.

210- Runs scored by the Australia batters at No.6 and lower during the fourth innings. These are the most by any team's No.6 and lower batters in a successful fourth-innings chase, surpassing the 190 by Sri Lanka against Zimbabwe in 2017.

7- Consecutive Test wins for Australia against New Zealand in New Zealand. It is the joint-second longest winning streak against the home team in Test cricket. England won each of their first eight Tests in South Africa between 1889 and 1899, while New Zealand also won their recent seven Tests in Zimbabwe (since 2000).

15-1- Australia's win-loss record while chasing a target against New Zealand in Test cricket. The 2011 Hobart Test was the only time Australia lost while chasing against New Zealand in Tests. The 279-run chase in Christchurch is now the highest that Australia chased successfully against New Zealand.

247- Runs scored by Australia after the fall of the fourth wicket in the chase. These are the third-most runs scored by any team after losing their fourth wicket in a successful fourth-innings chase in Test cricket. The previous highest for Australia was 244 against Pakistan in the 1999 Hobart Test, where they were 125 for 4 in a 369-run chase.

98*- Alex Carey's score in the Christchurch chase is the second-highest by a wicketkeeper in a successful fourth-innings chase in Tests. Adam Gilchrist's unbeaten 149 against Pakistan in 1999 in Hobart is the highest.

140- Partnership runs between Mitchell Marsh and Carey is the third-highest in a successful fourth-innings chase in Tests for the sixth or lower wicket. The highest is 238 between Justin Langer and Gilchrist for the sixth wicket against Pakistan in 1999.

2- Individual scores by No.7 or lower batters in a successful fourth-innings chase in Tests higher than Carey's 98 not out in Christchurch. Gilchrist's 149 not out against Pakistan came while batting at No.7, while Gilbert Jessop scored 104, also at No.7 against Australia in 1902 at The Oval.

3- Instances of Australia successfully chasing a target of 250-plus runs since 2008. During this period, Australia lost chasing 250-plus targets on 25 occasions, while another four ended in a draw. Johannesburg 2011 (310), Birmingham 2023 (281) and Christchurch 2024 (279) are those wins. Pat Cummins hit a boundary to close the chase in all three instances.

Re: Grade Cricket

Can Glenelg select their test player?

They could. When was the last time Carey played Grade cricket? Can remember Head playing some games last year, but don’t recall Carey playing. Which is understandable having been the keeper in 3 formats for Australia for much of the last few years. Looking on Play Cricket, November 2021? He made 155 against ND.

Winning another premiership! By one wicket!

Nervous heading out there mate? Lost 8/36 and you arrived. Hit the winning run? I wasn't nervous going out to bat because I didn't expect us to win being nine wickets down, only got nervous when we got close. I didn't hit the winning runs, I managed to (streakily) get off strike and my team mate who batted number three making 96* hit the winning runs. We put on 40 for the last wicket to win it, his innings was incredible.

Sounds like your innings was equally as important

Hazelwood like even :D[/quote]Hahaha!
Reflecting on it afterwards I couldn't help but reference an Australian 10 wicket partnership involving guys like Glenn McGrath or Josh Hazlewood.
Our captain was trying to call me Jack Leach and our match winning number 3 Ben Stokes referencing Headingley 2019 but I told him he can't because thinking about that innings, partnership and result gives me PTSD lol.
Thanks lads.

Re: AFL Round 3

Why is neither North or Carlton wearing their traditional jumper?
It's Norths home game, I know, but they could be mistaken for the Bulldogs.
Brand is everything, what's Norths?
Shinboner, blue and white stripes.

Unlike a Collingwood supporter to not understand the wearing of an alternative strip [emoji14]

Probably to do with The Good Friday Appeal, a limited edition guernsey would hold more value being auctioned off perhaps.
Yes North's gurnseys are for the Good Friday Appeal.

Re: 2024 Adelaide Footy League -Division 2

Are all games live streamed and/or live scores available for the Adelaide Footy League? I've gone to the Adelaide Footy TV section of the website and it shows previous games, but no indication of what games they might be screening for today (if any)? Also, it seems on Play HQ, some games have live scores, while others don't update until after the match. Is there another website with live scores? You can try Filming Footy on YouTube for today's streamed games.

Re: What Are You Listening To Now?

Pearl Jam’s latest album, Dark Matter is really, really good (Got to Give my favourite song)
IMO their best since releasing Vitalogy in 1994.

Had a brief listen and liked a couple of songs instantly. I've listened to it a couple of times now and don't mind it, I like the title track Dark Matter.

I can't agree with you there Spargo, I absolutely love Yield and to a lesser extent No Code, I like Backspacer and really love some songs off Binaural, Riot Act and Pearl Jam but not the whole albums respectively. Lightning Bolt has some memorable songs too like Future Days. I probably haven't listened to Gigatron enough to make a comparison to Dark Matter.
What are these albums you speak of, did someone say Ten and Vs ;)
Haha, are you stuck in 1993? ;)
Vs is my favourite PJ album by far.

Re: AFL Round 9

Why does ch7 on a Sunday switch stations? South Aussie with cosi ffs
And they can start the news a fraction later. It reminds me of Channel 9 during summer from years gone by during ODI cricket where the first innings would finish at 5.30pm, a show like Who Wants to be a Millionaire or Postcards would be on for half an hour then the news comes on at 6pm meaning the first half an hour of the second innings wouldn't be telecast, I could never get why the news couldn't be on at 5.30 when the first innings finishes.

It just frustrates me that the 6pm news still holds right of way and channels (in this case now channel 7) aren't more flexible with it and the footy is transferred to 7mate for the last part of it.

I do note that I think the news finished early on Friday night as the Geelong v Port game started at 6.40 our time.

Yep, and we would return with Bill or Greigy "Welcome back to our Adelaide viewers, the West Indies pace attack have started well, and the Aussies are 3/13. Border on 10* and Waugh yet to score".
And then when Gilchrist came into the side opening with Mark Waugh you just prayed that you saw a left hander on the screen when the telecast came back on.
I was more Gilchrist/Hayden era but had he same sentiment, I was always hoping Gilchrist was still in.

Think the 6pm news is still the highest rating show on commercial TV.
But ch7 want the Sunday twilight games to run into the news and yet they put on South aussie with Cosi

We have an extra half hour to deal with
Surely it's not that hard?
I thought it wasn't hard to just have the footy on 7 which runs into the news like you said but apparently not. I just find it strange.
