Haha is that my rep hey just call it as I see it peoples. One thing from the plympton game that seemed to puzzle most of our players and supporters was a soccered goal by j smith in the last quarter that was called touched by the lodges goal umpire yet there was no one in front of him and he was a metre or two clear of anyone else not sure what the story was with that call

cant comment on that one as we were all down the other end next to your crowd, lots of friendly banter all day :D
although I did watch with interest one spectator going a tad over board about it and having to be restrained by his mates as he was yelling abuse and trying to walk towards the goal umpire ;)
and then listening to our blokes about 25mtrs away ripping into the bloke - it can be a long day for some when they have been drinking most of the day 8)

I can comment on that one as i was less than 1 meter away from that contest. The ball hit the ground and jimmy picked it up and tried to dribble it on the ground with his right foot. The defender on him ( Jamie Sibbick) reached down with his right hand and touched the ball. You could hear it and see it deflect. I think if you asked Jimmy himself he will tell you that it was touched and not a goal. I also think the ball hit the inside of the goal post on the way through aswell, so wouldn't have counted anyway.

I love it when the only people that were complaining it wasn't touched were the crowd and blokes that were outside the 50 meter line. Decision was 100% correct.

The decision from saturdays game that has me puzzled is the one that happened on out half forward line in the last quarter. Our number 2 (Brett Aldridge) took a mark and put his feet out to protect himself from the guy running at him. The umpire payed a freekick to Plympton and I was told that he was luck to not get red carded for kicking him in mid air and not going for the ball. Even though brett took the mark he wasn't SUPPOSEDLY going for the ball. Had me scratching my head.

Settle mate, the lad you are referring to is not a cheat. He is a top bloke, and as fair as you will get them. If they were the wrong calls they weren't made deliberately. He has goal umpired for us for years and has done a great job. Wouldn't be a more fairer goal umpire going around.

Plus no, it wasn't him on the weekend.

One thing i did see on saturday was a bit of a "piccolo-pete" act in the C Grade from the BL goal umpire when plympton kicked a goal which went pretty much over the goal umps head and he called it a point.

Central umpire sensibly overruled the descision.

Jabber we are trying mate...if it wasnt for the committees decision to get a league appointed umpire the goal umpire could very well have been the field umpire...

Unfortuantly with a lack of people putting their hand up to do these jobs we sometimes have to take what we can get...most clubs are probably the same and we could all sit here and sling mud over the poor decisions made by these umpires but without them we wouldnt have a game.

happy with that explaination, thanks.

it was refreshing instead of getting ur back up and firing off barbs which seems to occur on here too often.

on the football side of things very impressed with the game on saturday, both sides moved the ball very well. The fella that went to go the goal umpire should really take a good hard look at himself, there was really no need for that! every one makes mistakes! we happen to be in the same pocket, hang around for a bit after the game and had a chat to those lads and they werent that bad! was a exciting game of footy in that last qtr and crowd was gettin amongst! hopefully the return leg both sides are at full strength!

Yep even though it's kills me to say it well done to Rossies on saturday getting a win on their special day. I thought the jumpers looked really good, you guys should think of wearing the design again.

On our part we were really poor. It was probably our worst performance of the year. We had about 6-7 good players during the match and the rest were passengers- I'll put my hand up and admit I was one of them. We had every chance to win it but we we just didn't take them and Rosewater just wanted it more.

Well done to our B grade again getting a good win, i'm sure buckets and the gang are really confident going into this weeks twlight game against Elizabeth. As for us we just have to fight and scrap to match it with the eagles and stay in it all game.

And Rosewater lads, your ruckman number 25 from memory- Is he a rosewater boy or is he from somewhere else? I swear I've seen somewhere else before.

Oh and I almost forgot- To all that play in the SAAFL and especially our division look out for the umpire with the glasses who is a dead ringer for Harry Potter. I assure you he will have you tearing your hair out in frustration. Worst. Umpire. Ever

Yeah we definitely weren't expecting to come away with such an easy win.
Just a great all round team effort yesterday with winners in every position.

Looking forward to next week now. GF rematch and a game which will really tell us where we are at.
Never an easy game out at the Lodge.

It's going to be the game of the year so far. It's going to be great to watch.

Not sure about that mate, might miss a week. Plus, if you ever play B grade for us it means we have gained 18 Geelong players to our list.
