It could still be the same 12 sides as last year, with Cove to play Section 2

As i stated earlier a Cove representative is meeting with the ASCA executive on the 15th June and that is when final decision will be made. Cove won't be told they can't come into the association but it will be discussed where they will start.

So if Cove want to be in, i haven't been privy to the conversations between Cove and Craig Lawn, then yes they are IN.

I personally hope North Haven stay up enjoy our matches with them.

Coves record obviously hard to ignore but shouldn't they earn the right in OUR comp like all other sides to play section 1 I know we had to earn that right and we worked hard for years to get there and what about the A grade sides in Sec 2 will they be happy to have a club leap frog them. Just thinking on a clubs side fighting to get into the 1's would love to play them peronally though.

Yep i agree. I still think WOS are in trouble IMO.

But yeah cove should/could come through divvy 2. A up and coming side like Belair would be devastated if a side got to leap frog them in divvy 1.

ALso if they came through divvy 2, then the sides in div 2 would play a lot better cricketers throughout the year and be better prepared for section 1.

coming from someone who has played a fair bit of section 1 and section 2 cricket... if cove go into section 2 i can assure you it will be unfair for the B grade sides... Especially with the recent record of cove... you don't learn much fro being thrashed!!

I personally reckon it would be good to have a new side in section 1...

I suggest the difference between you guys joining and Cove is that Cove are ready for section 1 now. They don't need to work to get there cause they already are.

If no team is coming up to Sec 1 from Sec 2, then Cove should be straight in IMO. They have proven they re Div 1 quality by winning flags in comparible comp. Bottom team goes down as it normally would - or Westminster if they haven't shown they have a plan to stop the demise of their club. If Belair can't win the Sec 2 flag, then they arn't ready.

Glenelg ANA started in the A&SCA in sections 2 and 4.

I can't remember what WYC started in.

Both teams very competitive in section 1 at first attempt.

What were the histories by both clubs leading into changing over to A&SCA ?
Do you think they could've justified starting in section 1 like cove but were told no ?

A precedent could be set by the association here.

FWIW - ICC SHarks requested section 2 or 3 when starting and got section 5.
Quotient of well over 3  .
Next season section 2 runners up.

WYC started in section 1 and finished 5th and haven't missed the finals since, just for AF ;) .

We had played finals for a number of consecutive years in Independent Central before we left but certainly hadn't won 3 flags in a row. I am not sure but i think the year we joined section 1 went from 10 to 12 sides?????????

It is easy to build a case for Cove to come straight into section 1 and just as easy to build a case for all the clubs at the foot of the ladder to stay in section 1. It will be interesting to see what decision is made in mid June.

What ever hapens to us, I still think that with Cove coming in, it will make th ASCA a stronger competition, unfortunately at the expense of the SCA. Just goes to show that the ASCA is doing something right after 111 years.

Cove in section 1 or 2? It doesn't really matter. The league will make the right choice
