a great game of Under 17's footy - Lincoln Districts were far too polished for our City Boys. Got the runs on the board early and played fantatsic running footy all day to come away with a 13 point win. We were out gunned for pace and got smashed early in contested footy. A few stars in the making for Districts, with Boston Prodigy dynamic at times - running some 50 metres with the ball dodging and weaving thru our players. A few positives to come out of the game for our boys - but in the end we were well and truly beaten by a side filled with contributors. Districts will be extremely hard to beat at Kinlough, with Keely and Roderick to come into that side.

Lincoln smashed KI by around 15 goals in the League..... zoomers got the boys flying!

"Bloody Chard" lighten up Jules, sounds like you have little respect for him as a player.
I do however agree with you that he is not even close to 'top 10' this year due to injury/poor form etc. however fully fit and firing he's in Tumby Bay's best three or four and a real barometer for how the club is travelling. It should be remembered that he was runner-up in last years Mail Medal and had 45 touches in last years GF win.

I think you need to be very careful when selecting 'top 10s' best teams etc to make sure you set a criteria that everyone is aware of ie current form, most talented, best performed over a period of time and then keep in mind that it's only someone's opinion.

So having said all that the first ten players I would pick in my side currently playing in Great Flinders based on the past few seasons and including this year would be

Michael Curtis
Simon Pedler
Chris Prime
George Pedler
Paul Jefferson
Brad Hazelgrove
Luke Moroney
Mark Habner
Jordon Telfer
Ricky Skinner

we got over EU by about 4 goals in a scrappy game. we still not playing any where near our best.
and DJD chard came rummer up in mail medal, close to BOG in last yrs grandy and played bloody well yesterday. Luke Wilkins is an up and coming star of the league and played a ripper yesty and has super footy smarts.

what happened at cummins were cougars just to good or ramblers play poor?

Jules, I'm sure all clubs have players that "get" under the radar of other teams. Certainly everybody will have their opinions, however I can tell you that Jimmy Chard is very highly rated at Tumby, and has a habit of playing his best games when it matters. (Watch a replay of last years GF, we thought he was clearly BOG). As GD pointed out, he was runner up in last years MM, and his hardness and tackling ability is second to none at our club. Anyway, it's all just personal opinions and that makes for healthy debate !! Top ten for mine in no particular order:
1. Michael Curtis (cleanest ball handler in the comp, a big game player)
2. Simon Pedler (Just can't ignore his ability, especially in finals)
3. Brad Hazelgrove (Class player, and will get better)
4. Paul Jefferson (I don't think anybody could argue, terrific honest player)
5. Chris Prime (420 goals in 55 games since joiing the comp speaks for itself)
6. Jordan Telfer (Class player that would dominate further in a winning side)
7. George Pedler (As well balanced as anybody on both sides, quality)
8. James Pedler (Only seen him play once, but obvious talent)
9. Mark Habner (Record suggest he has to be in, allthough I've never seen him "tear" a game apart)
10. Daniell Wedd (This might surprise a few, but his never say die attitude is admirable)

Players that deserve a mention: Ty Habner, Jimmy Chard, Luke Moroney, Jacob Cave, Brad Foster, Scotty Blacker, Bung Fitz, Clayton Millard, Rog Puckridge, Ricky Skinner.

Bloody hard job when you sit down and think about it!! I'm sure I've missed somebody ....

thanks for the bake boys. i do respect him and think he is a good player, but need to be better than that to make top 10. although i did forget he was runner up in medal. i agree with both those top 10s.
fev as i said ramblers will be better with t micken (2 years ago he was in my top 3!) back, they have a huge backline which we will struggle with on smaller ovals (kapinnie next time). they only get better as finals get closer.

Alot of possitives from both teams, we attacked with great pace and made them pay on the score board. With Tynan, Jayden and Phillip to come back in the side i cant see us loosing a game come kinlough weekend! Mike Orbons ruck work was a huge asset to the citys game giving endless efforts all day which freed up players such as Harders and Kay.
Good players for the day were, Betts, Davey, Finlayson, Sellen for Districts and Harders, Orbons, Nizbet and Daniels for city.
Very promising future for PLFL! :D

Boston prod. - you may very well be right buddy - especially with those three big in's.... certainly adds more pace and another key forward.

Just a little bit... ;)

Surprised me that he didn't get more of a run in the under 17's...

Probably would have if he'd left Mallee's for a Lincoln City club... :D

MP - what do you mean by that comment?? We had something like 40 odd rotations...it gave us an opportunity to see all the kids in different positions and just how our guys perform under pressure....of which there was plenty with Districts jumping to a handy 20 odd point lead by the 10 min mark of the first quarter....

I just thought that if he was playing for City, he would have got more of a run. As it was, he played less than half the game, when some others with less skills got considerably more of a go.

And before anyone hits me with the "he's an under 15 and already played a full game," he spent a good quarter or more on the bench in the 15's game, and at "rep" level, you play the best players...

I can understand some of what your saying....but also in a "rep" game (a trial for the upcoming Kinlough Cup) worth nothing but pride - I reckon you need find out where your entire squad is - because you probably already know how your top 10 perform - the difference is in your next 15 players. And Lincoln Districts look strong all over, so there probably wasnt the room for improvement like there is with Lincoln City.

It's been said on here many times... I'm an idiot... So most of what I say won't make sense.

Having said that, on a day that was for the juniors, all about showcasing the future of PLFL/EP football, I was horrified to see William on the bench, with some of the names that got a significant amount of game time.

There were clearly some players in the Districts side to "make up the numbers" from a certain club, so as not to give an impression of the Lincoln Districts Peckers.

My thoughts only..

A couple of good games this week Marble Range travel over the hill to play Souths at Centenary.
Mallees host the Tigers at Pecker Park.
and Waybacks make the journey to Rooster Land.( Sorry! Ravendale the complex at which both train at)
Have the Magpies picked up the mystery recruit weve all been waiting for?
Will Roo play?
What about Trent Ormond Allan?
Mallees by how much?
