I know B grade footy can throw up some wierd results due to the ever changing teams, but what has happened to Hope Valley this year? I thought they had been the bench mark with Plympton for the past couple years, but noticed they are 3-4 and got rolled by Heccies on the weekend who weren't setting the world alight either before this game. Anyone from HV that can shed any light on this?

Yeah masha its just a new era at the footy club basically. I believe only 3 players out of our 08 premiership played on sat in the b's, a few are either playing a's or playing c's and a majority have retired / having a break. At the end of the day barta's role is to produce future A grade footballers for our club and he is blooding a heap of u18's into the senior side which is fantastic for their experience which they are beginning to take back to 18's. Hopefully these lads stick around and in 3-4 years time we will see dividends

Thanks for the input mate. Good to hear that the club is moving in a direction which should cement the A grade's future in the years to come. In the end, the clubs that have continued success and go places are the ones with lots of youth and a good junior program. The Lodge are starting to make these changes, but will be 5-10 years before players start filtering through. Not that I am disappointed to see you guys losing ;) just was more surprised after the success you have been having in the last couple years. Cant wait for our clash in a couple weeks (B grade), has been a few years since I last ventured down to HV for a game of footy (that's if it's an away game???) A very unique oval....

Spot on really and thats the direction we want to take. The club is after sustainability in higher divisions with ultimately an A grade flag(s). The group that deano had from 05-09 was a rarity and the club will look back on that period fondly, but we are starting to assemble a group capable of winning the ultimate goal of an A grade flag and promotion which is what the club is really after. As for the junior program, it really has been an asset of hv for as long as i can remember and the juniors playing in our senior sides is evidence that our program is strong. Best of luck to the lodge with the changes being made and its great to see clubs try and build these structures, as after all, senior premierships with players having also played juniors at the club makes for great foundation. Cant wait for the clash in a couple of weeks, however i believe we are at your deck. should be a great day

well it didn't impact the result, we didn't deserve to win. just can't get my head around beating Plympyon at Plympton and then what we produced in the next two weeks. we are right in the relegation zone now and i'd be shattered if we stay there.

nonetheless, the umpiring, below average and inconsistent. so many times a player got tackled high or pushed in the back and got nothing and then good tackles went unrewarded. interestingly i heard the smithfield bench say it was the best umpiring they had all year as they walked past the umps at the end of the game. must have had some shockers in the first 6 rounds, they could not have been happy with the standard either.

great day at smithfield, games played in great spirit by both clubs.

Unfortunately it was the best I've seen this season, even with the half-time debacle. I must say, I too struggle to see how fluctuating your form has been, you guys were never out of it and it was a great game to watch.

On behalf of the Rosewater FC, I would like to thank North Haven for participating in our very successful Heritage Day. In particular, I would like to thank the North Haven president for the very generous gesture of, firstly, winning the auction for the signed jumper at the lunch with a bid of $650 (I think), but secondly, donating the jumper back to the 1957 A1 Premiership captain.

he wasn't on the match report from the umps and he went onto the ground about 5 minutes into the third. your interchange steward said the umpire reversed the whole lot during the break. all's well that ends well.
