Darcy Armfield was given permission by SANFL to play Reserves for the Bays against South this weekend.
Good Reserves debut by Armfield - He kicked 5 goals and got 3rd Best.

Was definately a better way of showing AFL Scouts his capabilities than playing U18s against the bottom team

Well allegedly, because the two Victorian teams are lacking quality ruckman they lobbied for, and were successful in getting, up to two 19yo players in each team.

Only the AFL could have an UNDER 18 competition and allow 19 year olds to play in it.

Our own SANFL U18s Comp allows overage players .... ;)

Yes I know that. My point being that the AFL forces the SANFL to fall into line with an "Under 18" competition rather than Under 19s & 17s, and then allow 19 year olds to play. I'm just saying why change it to Under 18s if 19 year olds are allowed to play. Like most things in footy these days, I fail to see the point.

"GLENELG defender Sebastian Tape will captain SA in the under-18 national championships starting Saturday.

The Westminster College student was named skipper, and Eagles' Brodie Smith vice captain, at training last night.

Tape stands 189cm and weighs 78kg and can transform from key defender to dangerous forward.

``I like his competitive nature,'' SA coach Brenton Phillips said.

``He's a wonderful young man and he's capable of playing league footy.''

SA trains tomorrow night when Phillips will name a squad of 25 for its opening round clash with Western Australia this Saturday.

The game at AAMI Stadium starts at 11.35am and is a curtain-raiser to Port Adelaide's match against Richmond."

Congratulations to Sebbie, had the honour of coaching Seb at Kenilworth in the under 9's, thought he was a talent then and happy that he is.

Big Phil, he lives in the glenelg zone and goes to westminster college.

for him to go to the eagles they would have had to pay a transfer fee for him. i would think that he would have only be allowed to go there fee free if it is a father/son.

If this is true then I'd imagine Seb Tape will have quite a bit of talent. Jamie was a fantastic player.

Good effort by Bennell to kick 6 goals out of 8 for WA, in a team that lost by 11 goals in the wet.

No, and Im pretty shitty about it. Nothing on either the AFL or SANFL websites.

I even phoned TIO Stadium but just got a recorded message saying their office was closed.

I'm now relying on any of the guys putting up facebook status updates to hear how they went :(
