You must have good private health.
Had a ankle op 6 year ago, memory a bit vague but he charged something like $1500-2000 for about 30 minutes work, I had to pay the gap of about $400-500. When I had to get knocked out again to take a clamp and screw out another anaesthetist said he wouldn't charge me for this time as the last guy charged enough.

nah ive got basic cover
I had to pay a $500 excess last july when I had the arthroscapy but the anaethisist didnt charge
and since I payed the excess the knee op cost me $100 which is 2 days in hospital and $150 for the anethasist. I onyl have to pay excess once a year and can get as many ops as needed, whch is good.
