We'll we played there round 1 againast Blackfriars and it was in great nick. The grass was really lush and green and the centre was in a really good condition. I see your point though, being that the surface can change for the worst as the season goes on.

I would not have WOS in the good if you are talking about Glandore. Ground is on an angle no footy ground should be on, parking is terrible, oval is the size of a 5c coin and when it gets a little rain on it the centre and parts of the ground turn into a slop.

Kenilworths oval so big it could be raining at one end of the ground and sunny at the other !!! ;)

I don't mind them both really. And parking isn't a good basis for the discussion or half the grounds would be in the 'crap' group !!

Anyone who played SGL in the good old days would remember Quorn's facilities. The oval itself was passable on a good day (after rain had transformed the dirt bits into more grass) but the old town hall changing facilities certainly weren't up to scratch! Was a bit like getting changed in a dusty old shearing shed - with more splinters and less hot water.

It did provide one of my funniest footballing memories though. A local dog ran onto the oval during the A grade and proceeded to chase the ball for a few minutes until Wolves ruckman Peter Jackson booted it so hard in the guts it landed a couple of metres away.

Surely Portland is in the Best ovals you have played on??
Not to big, good to watch footy at with the hill going round most of the oval
changerooms clean, away ones still small, but so are almost everyones!
doesnt get to muddy anymore like it used to.
May be biased but I struggle to think of a ground that is better then that in amatuer footy
get on board the thunder train!!!

As with my bias, Broadview is one of the best, can play good footy on it all year, no mud spots. Got some drainage trenches on it at the moment, but when they heal over, it'll be cherry ripe again. Its been mowed real short over the past couple weeks too, great surface.

Best Ovals in terms of surface are. {In no particular order other than Kllburn)
Kilburn, Henley, St Marys, Portland, Flinders University, Salisbury, Broadview

General rule of thumb is that the Western side of town ovals hold the water much better and are far better surfaces.

In saying that the Eastern side of town Clubs get my vote as the worst surfaces as they turn into sh*it holes when wet.

Not going to name them all but you get the picture - those Eastern side of town ovals and North Eastern Ovals.

Best facilities - Kilburn, Payneham NU, Walkerville, Tea Tree Gully (new ones) Gepps Cross.

Overall - Kilburn has the best facilities and Oval by a country mile

Pretty well said, never seen flinders uni though
broadview looked alright, had some trenches freshly dug but apart from that isnt a bad place!

Overall - Kilburn has the best facilities and Oval by a country mile
