The selectors keep picking him

Batting at 7 is ok in o/d games he has a s/rate of 82
is a better keeper than Dietz[not batsman]
Yeah worth playing him only in o/d games

He was plumb LBW tonight first ball, given not out.

I prefered Manou at #3 a few years back, when Blewey and Davison opened. He actually tried to construct his innings, put his head down, and scored some runs.

Easy to have a good strike rate when you only score 20. And yes, a better glovesman that Deitz, I rate him the best in the country for his glove work. Darren Berry was best Ive seen. Unfortunately, good glovework isn't enough. Score some runs, especially in a team where batting collapses are commonplace. Nothing wrong with Deitzs glove work though. Hes no Geriant Jones!!

Strong batting line up in o/d games
so a keeper that can slog in the last 5-10 overs is why he gets a gig
in front of Dietz

and agree whilst his 4 day batting has been poor, he is a good glove man

Fantastic effort by the Redbacks in the end in another SA cliffhanger! I was actually cheering on the Bulls as the Blues have dropped four games now but I believe SA deserved the victory after some curious field placements and bowling choices by Jimmy Maher in this game. Brant, who bowled very well earlier in my view was two overs short and the luckless Stevens got smashed for that six. Also, Maher had a deep field and let the Backs have too many easy ones and twos..he must have been taking advice from Simon Katich. Well done SA.

BTW mally, we can all see that you get plenty of 'calls' right from time to time (your method is similar to mine, make enough predictions and you'll eventually get some right LOL) but you won't get any pats on the back from this mob until you stop patting yourself on the back  .

A good call was the poster who has been pumping up Harris, who batted quite well with Elliot. That partnership really put the Bulls on the back foot as they rely on Bichel a hell of a lot to take a couple of wickets and that partnership saw off the threat of Bichel and put the heat on the skipper.

2 miraculous wins out of 4 games. a definite case for foxtel!
could so easily be 0 and 4.
very important they follow it up with a strong performance in the shield game.

Lol, i nearly sent u a message as soon as the game finished.

Seriously, perhaps the most exciting last ball I have seen in a one day game in my life!

what about bevans last ball boundary for australia a few years ago ??

Nup, this was better as you just don't expect a bloke like R.Harris to knock one over the ropes to win the game. Maher was obliging though.

On another note, Cosgrove and Ferguson were so, so disappointing. Cosgrove hit an absolute dolly to Simpson at mid on when he was on 10 or 11. You'd think he'd knuckle down and make the most of the let off but his dismissal was SOFT. Good to see him on the bike in the rooms though.
As for Ferguson wtf was that shot? Sure, it's often hard to come in pick up the pace of the game after a partnership but that was WET. Hopes, as much as he has his fans, is a fairly one dimensional bowler. The ball didn't look to do anything special and he, well I'm not that sure what he was trying to do. Turn it to square leg for a single? If so, then a terribly executed shot.

And, on another note, wonder what the 'backs think of their sensational win being the secondary 'backs story to the lead onein today's local rag. Ooh-er!

I was sort of expecting Ferguson to get out early, but the shot he played was poor. IMO he has dropped well below Cosgrove, Harris and Borgas as far as the young bats in the side. I think the Redbacks would be better off with R Harris in the side at number 7 with Deitz batting at 6 in the Pura Cup team. However, he did make 60 against Tasmania so if he can make a big score against Qld on the weekend he can save his place in the team.

As for Cosgrove, he's that type of player and in one-dayers his role is to go out and play aggressively while the field is up. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. He plays a few too many shots in the air for my liking, but I'd still back in his talent at the top of the order. It's the Pura Cup where he really needs to knuckle down and make huge scores.

Manou really played a team game last night. His running between the wickets was one of the reasons we were still in the game until the last ball and although he couldn't hit the big boundary himself, he worked well with Borgas and ended up getting run out doing the team thing. I like him in the one day team down the order as he is now, but he still needs a lot of runs in Grade/2nd XI and then eventually in 1st Class cricket before he wins his spot back permanently in the Pura Cup team over Deitz.

Agreed. Haven't seen the crowd in raptures like that ever I don't think. Couldn't wipe the smiles off anyone's faces as we all filed out.
