What a ridiculous comment. Stick to praising your own team and not making factually wrong comments about the opposition players and for what it is worth he was hardly mown down - it took 3 Nwd players to finally hold him before the holding the ball was payed. At least Alleway has a crack and never takes a backward step unlike the majority of his team mates at present.

Lucky for you guys Doyle wasn't playing...........

How difficult was it to kick goals to the northern end on Sat?

Was right behind the goals when Rowe had a shot in the 3rd. Looked like it was sailing straight thru the middle and suddenly the ball took a sharp left and hit the post.
Again when Phillips was having a shot in the same qtr, ball looked like it was sailing thru but again a sharp left and the ball didnt even make the distance.
Recall Alleway having a shot in 2nd qtr and same thing. Dawe took a mark easily inside the behind line to the left.

Conditions making it difficult to score so the low scores were somewhat forgiving.

Yep, I have to say I felt uncomfortable about that comment as well. There were a couple of Norwood fans near me rubbishing Alleway during the day, but I thought he was playing a pretty good game. As a matter of fact, if I could recruit a player to Norwood from North at the moment it would probably be Alleway.

Recruit a highly divisive player with a track record of removing coaches he doesn't like? No thanks.

Can play a bit though. :D

I mentioned to a few of the North (OTR, Wedge, Ian, good to see you again) lads on the weekend, that Im pretty surprised with their results ... They have an excellent combination of size, speed, skill and tenacity, and really I think they should be challenging for the highest honour.

At Norwood, it obviously took a few weeks of Bass switching personnel to see where they could and couldn't fit, but one thing most were sure of and has recently been confirmed, is that if we have to take a hit in ruck then so be it, but do whatever it takes to keep Sam Rowe up forward .. He is our key forward so it makes sense that's where he should spend the vast majority of his time.

So too with North, I reckon Alleway needs to stay up the field ... He will no doubt straighten them up whilst regularly getting on the board himself.

Nick Gill is a better player than we saw on the weekend, we know the quality of White, and then you throw Stewart and Wundke into the mix and I don't think anyone boasts the firepower of tall forward that the Roosters have.

Maybe all they need is a break through win that ends the current rut, but they should be a very capable team and I wouldn't be writing them off just yet.

So no truth whatsoever to the rumour that Big Clint was behind a player power push to get rid of Jarman then?

FWIW Alleway is obviously a good footballer but his sly use of elbows and knees in contests and packs certainly hasn't endeared him to all of his SANFL opponents.

Both of those statements are news to me. I have never heard the first rumour, I did hear one or two other names mentioned.

Secondly the SANFL footballers that I have met (mainly at work) have never mentioned anything about Alleway's use of elbows or knees. All I have heard is their comments on his work effort and ability to get to and maintain front position. I certainly don't know all of his SANFL opponents though, some may have an issue with him like you obviously do, Topsy.

No problems. Next time I'll remember how much I love every other player in the league, even those that don't play for my club.

Anyway, you can now go back to banging on about how bad Norwood are OTR.

It's so nice to see such productive criticism, for a while there I thought you were just trolling

Yes, I was a little disappointed with how this thread started with no credit whatsoever being given to Norwood for a good solid win. One person even said we weren't that good and would finish only 5th or 6th.

This comment make me laugh because it was only 4 weeks ago that people were expecting us to finish bottom with zero wins. The improvement in Norwood is evident for all to see, so I was disappointed by the inference Norwood were only able to win because North didn't play well.

I prefer to think North didn't play well because Norwood didn't allow them to.

Unfortunately North supporters know better than that, they haven't played well since 3/4 time of the South game.

................and yes, it would appear Norwood have improved significantly, much better than the 8th or 9th on the ladder predictions earlier in the season, still not a top 3 prospect IMO

I gather you are talking about my post, and if you actually read ALL OF WHAT IS POSTED, I commented that this was the first time I have seen Norwood this year and from that game, wasn't overly impressed. WWT, Centrals and West were more impressive from the games I have seen, then Sturt, Glenelg and Norwood would be next. Sorry my opinion of Norwood isn't as complementary as yours.

Please find me a post where I have said Norwood were bad - another stupid statement?

For what it is worth after the horrible start to the season Norwood is clearly the form team atm but I'm not sure you would have won if North had put the game away in the first and second quarters with all the play and scoring shots we had however Norwood showed (as have other sides against us) that if you don't convert your opportunities and allow a side to stay in it the good sides will run over you.

We were lucky in the last quarter that Norwood didn't kick straight and have a bigger winning margin in the end.

Norwood were impressive re good mix of height and their pacey on ballers are causing alot of head aches for the other sides at present.

Hey we agree on something, excellent.

North should have been further ahead at quarter time which would have changed the nature of the contest IMHO. I'm not sure that a Walker-less Norwood could easily run down a four or five goal margin. What was the pleasing thing, second most pleasing thng anyway :D , was that we kicked the goals that matter. Phillips, in particular, kicked one ripper in the third that really got the team going.

After eight years of it happening to other teams it's nice to win a game we probably shouldn't have.

Congratulations to the ten or so North players who refused to shake hands with the Norwood players at the end of the match! Must be proud of yourselves! Bloody disgrace!
