SA v Qld - Redbacks get out of Jail

Postby sydney-dog » Wed Dec 13, 2006 9:26 pm

SA was coasting with 6 overs to play, needing less then a run a ball with Both Elliott and Boof at the crease, but then fell in a huge hole

SA needed 3 of the last ball and Harris hit a SIX

Queensland 268/7 (50 ov)
South Australia 270/7 (50.0 ov)
Match over

End of over 50 (12 runs) - South Australia 270/7 (RR: 5.40)

RJ Harris 8* (3b 1x6) LM Stevens 3-0-23-0
JN Gillespie 1* (1b)

49.6 Stevens to RJ Harris, SIX, ooh la la; big drive over mid on and clears the boundary by heaps
49.5 Stevens to Gillespie, 1 run, played out to mid wicket
49.4 Stevens to Manou, 1 run, OUT, driven out to mid wicket and Simpson fires in a good throw to Hartley who takes the bails off, Orchard asks for a replay which shows Manou well out
GA Manou run out 5 (12m 6b 0x4 0x6) SR: 83.33
49.3 Stevens to Manou, 2 runs, driven to long off, Brant throws and batsman just makes it
49.2 Stevens to RJ Harris, 1 run, driven to mid off
49.1 Stevens to Manou, 1 leg bye, big swing and taken on the pads, huge appeal, not out
End of over 49 (4 runs) - South Australia 258/6 (11 runs required from 6 balls, RR: 5.26, RRR: 11.00)

then we lost it, and won it again.
2 miraculous wins out of 4 games. a definite case for foxtel!
could so easily be 0 and 4.
very important they follow it up with a strong performance in the shield game.

SA BEAT QLD AGAIN !!!!!!

QLD have not beaten Lehmanns legends in 2005/2006.
SA have won the last 3 games, and without a shadow of doubt are
huge contenders to win the o/d final after a last ball 6 by Ryan Harris wins the game.

QLD 7/268 a good total
CULLEN outstanding 3/32[10]
TAIT pulled hamstring
COSGROVE 2/28[4.5] had to bowl due to Taits injury
PHILLIPSON 88[81] brilliant, and a return to form
HOPES 74[91] WHAT A STAR

SA 7/270
ELLIOTT 103[118] he is back, matchwinner or match loser this year
D.HARRIS 50[73] another good effort by MALs boy
LEHMANN 62[60] masterful innings again, a champion
R HARRIS 8*[3] MALS man delivers, he is a very good allrounder

What a game
TAIT pulls a hammy[why they play o/d games before p/cup games is dumb]
COSGROVE takes vital wickets [ahem.]

West Indies contender and the man MAL has praised this year Jimmy HOPES
proved he is the real deal
74[91] opening , outstanding effort
4/38 [10] nearly won the game for QLD
Should have been man of the match marginally over ELLIOTT.

MALS latest star Dan the man Doc HARRIS played another good innings
HARRIS 50[73] in only his 3rd o/d innings
HARRIS innings are 77, 22 run out, 50 at an average of 49 [77 + 50 v QLD]

ELLIOTT a superb 103 hes baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack
LEHMANN 62 [60] what a smart batsman
full marks to BOOF for continously talking ELLIOTT throughout thier partnership

Ryan HARRIS who I have said all along should be in the team has been in
dynamic form in district cricket
most runs
most wickets
He bowled 0/72[10] and was having a bad day
Showed why he is a star player hitting a 6 to win the game

At 3/243 with 4 overs left we were cruising
BOOF + ELLIOTT just didnt quite finish them off
MANOU whom was called unjustifiably selfish in the NSW game for not running
a dicey single, showed that was bullshit by turning 1s into 2s twice before
being run out trying it a 3rd time[those extra 2 runs helped]

Thats the turning point of the year.
Without a shadow of doubt the stability up top by ELLIOTT + HARRIS in the
last 2 games v TAS + QLD has kick started the season.

I loved LEHMANNS comment to Morrison on fox TV
" You blokes must love these close games this year for the ratings"

PS MALS boys WHITE/HOPES are starring.

MAHERS captaincy was good.
But a spinner last over ?
Brant 8 overs 0/26 should have bowled it.

I didnt see the QLD innings how was Boofs captaincy ?

He admitted himself that since he made a hundred earlier in the year he hadn't made above ten. Yes a star

Plenty of blokes have made 74 of less than 91 balls in the bastardised version of the game but they are no stars.

i seem to recall YOU MAL calling for his head & sending him 'back to victoria & give some kid a go' when sitting in the bradman stand next to me only a few weeks ago (i did concur)

the redbacks snatched defeat from jaws of victory then the bulls snatched it back & lost

How many blokes make 74 and then take 4/38 of thier 10 overs
He is also the leading wicket taker in the o/d games this year

Keep trying ROD

My advice to you pal is look at ALL of my cricket posts about players
and I have been right a lot more times than wrong.
Yes I was wrong with ELLIOTT.

What gives me the shits OCCASIONALLY is that I stick my head out
make bold/brash predictions and when OCCASIONALLY I get them wrong,
people like you ALWAYS seem to criticise me.

Here is my stable of 2006
-----------------------------

HOPES
WATSON
HADDIN
CHRISTIAN
S CLARK
WHITE
BORGAS
D HARRIS
R HARRIS
HILFENHAUS
RONCHI

Apart from Watson/Haddin/Clark a bunch of no name nobodys.
Apart from Ronchi a lot of the stable have perfromed well to very well.

I could be DARING and pick out

PONTING
LEHAMNN
HUSSEY
WARNE
etc
but big deal,

MY NON STABLE
------------------

ELLIOTT
MANOU
LEHMANNS captaincy
LEE
FLINTOFFS batting
KATICH captaincy

Yeah wrong with the 'untouchable' ELLIOTT

As for the half a dozen others who delight in quotes and posts,
It would be nice if you could say, yeah MAL well done you were spot on etc.

REGARDS,

F
I
G
MAL
