good result, getting back to how we were playing early on in the season.

Probably helped a little by the fact the eagles also played an open style of game.

lets hope this gets our season back on track.....

I can't remember ever seeing a more looked after team. Second to the ball most of the day and rewarded for it. And as for the Eagles players.... what a bunch of whining saps, non stop complaining and bitching when things didn't go their way. Well done Tigers!!!!

our defence leaked goals to easily in the first term, everytime the eagles went forward they seemed to goal with ease, glenelg would have controlled 70% of the play but werent as effective inside 50, the 2nd qtr we didnt look like scoring in the first 15 minutes, the defence was under seige and the eagles forwards defensive pressure threatened to break the game open but they couldnt convert and 2 late goals gave us a surprise advantage at the half. goal for goal early in the third then we just run amok from about the 10 minute mark of the term to lead by 6 goals plus at the last change. we kicked the first goal of the last to stretch it to 43 or 44 then wwt kicked 3 unanswered goals leading up to halfway of the term, they were by no means out of the contest but i dont reckon their players had the belief that they could get back into the game and snatch an unlikely win the bays steadied kicked the next 2 and it was all over

We were always going to struggle to kick a winning score - missing Grocke, Salter & Shultz.

Bays killed us in the centre - they should've won by more really.
They have alot of pace & their marking strength is good.
Think the result may have been a little different if we were @ full strength - the fact that Treeby had to play up forward, due to our 'outs', impacted on our midfield IMO

Was great to bump into 'SJABC' again... first thing he said was "Sorry about Fulham" - good man (for an Oranje) LOL ;)

Am bemused by TSG call - above, 'fishing' is OK for individuals who 'cast' into Eagles Fans is it Mods?... hmmmm

That said, I think it should be noted that I did in fact TIP Glenelg - see previous post - so for that type of post from him... pfft, not unexpected - facts???

Bays deserved their win - we have a difficult away game next week.
Must say, that I am beginning to lose patience with Welsh - saw a couple of 'soft' efforts from him today that really disappointed me - still think he should be playing halfback though

Not quite sure what you're on about at the start of your post here PP. As for the second part, yeah, I agree, at times we seemed frustrated and wanting to argue with the umpires, although Powell got a couple of absoulte crap ones against him. Overall, about the usual standard for umpiring this year.

Glenelg were too good for most of the day, too quick, especially in the third quarter when they got on top in the centre square. Also, finally a team wanted to kick goals to the southern end, both teams having butchered many good chances in the first half. Too many options up forward also finally wore down the Eagles defence.

Was fairly proud of the Eagles efforts given the changes and three blokes playing their first game, with Heinjus at just 193cm, having to ruck in his first game. Just disappointing we couldn't stop the juggernaut when it got going in that twenty minutes in the third quarter.

Overall, I think this is more of a reflection of both teams, Bays top two, Eagles just behind fighting for the double chance.

Did anyone else think that Mark Williams in the stand with his 'hoodie' over his head, struck a remarkable resemblance to 'The Grim Reaper' ??? ;)

I thought at quarter time we were lucky to be only 1 goal down after only winning about 1 centre clearance for the quarter, but then we didn't capitalise in the second quarter when we probably had a better run in general play.

Glenelg lifted a couple of gears in the third quarter to build a match winning lead, particularly from the 15 minute mark when we struggled to get our hands on the footy. Sellar absolutely dominated in ruck during that time and I'd expect him to be back in the Crows next week based on that performance.

I've thought he seems to have that impact on Broadbent's form. He played a few good games in a row before travelling to watch the Power play last week and was then nowhere to be seen today.

Last year was exactly the same - he was one of our best players consistently then spent about 6 weeks with the Power either playing or travelling emergency. When he came back to us before finals he was a shadow of his early season form.

I won't call Welsh crap but I'm very glad we didn't chase him as hard as some Glenelg people wanted us too and we kept cash in reserve for Kane Tenace. Christ he was good today.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Welsh does some smaller things (shepherds, tap ons) which sometimes go unnoticed but both this year and throughout his AFL career he seems to fall to the ground too easily in marking contests which lets your opponent run the ball out easily from defence.
