Interesting to see that Brett Favre is still going around with the Packers.
He's 38 years old coming off a season where he threw a league high 27 interceptions.
While he has also been a three time league MVP and a super bowl winner, he didn't look in real good touch in the practice game against the Bengals and I hope it's not a case of a champion not knowing when enough is enough.

do these guys play for the love of the game or the money they can demand or still get rather than retire.

e.g. like the australian cricket team
e.g. afl players

not knowing when to quit :D

probobly a bit of both. the best QBs seem to retire at the late 30s mid 40s montana, marino, young all retired in this bracket and jerry rice retired at 44 or something like that. they have a different mind set over there in regards to a players shelf life where we are quick to suggest a player is at the end of the road when he hits 30. and before any one says that gridiron is soft i see first hand the ailments and injuries suffered in this sport at local level let alone in the NFL. im just thankful that i dont play QB where everyone is trying to kill you.

Daryl Green, the Redskins cornerback. He would have had to have been at least 42 when he retired. He, like Rice, really was a marvel.

Indianapolis have started off well again at 9-0 but given recent disappointments at playoff time, nothing short of a Superbowl win will do for the Colt faithful.

What the rookie Punt/Kick Returner for the Chicago Bears, Hester. 6 returns for Touchdowns for the season already including two yesterday and one previously for 108 yards that was off of a missed field goal (how often would that have ever happened?). Also Ladanian Tomlinson for the Chargers in breaking the single season record for TD's scored with 29 and I think he still has 2 games left.

This season has been one of the best I can remember. Even with the Steelers going backwards.

How good are those Saints? Bush is gonna be a mega star.

Brett Favre - Still one of the best QBs to watch.

Colts giving up 375 yards rushing. No Super Bowl for you........again.

Bush put the pressure on himself in the preseason when he held out but he's turned out to be worthy of the hype and from the little bit I saw of the Saints and Cowboys match, the commentators mentioned that a rookie wide receiver (who I think had a surname of Colston and has over 70 receptions for the year) for the Saints was taken at number 221 in the draft - now that's what you call savvy recruiting.

Speaking of long careers, it's hard to believe that Jerry Rice didn't retire longer ago than he did. Think it was last year? After 20 seasons! I suppose it helps playing as a wide receiver but I wonder what the record is?

Jerry Rice is the same age as me.....

The great kicker Morten Anderson is still in the NFL. Admittedly he's a kicker but he's 46 years old!!!

Being a Cowboys fan, yesterdays game was a bitter pill to swallow ... If it wasn't for the fact that I know what my own team is capable of, I would have thought it an unloseable game in the 4th period!

HTF does a team keep the opposition out when they are first and goal, only to fumble for a safety (could have been much worse) when they have possession???

Still after all of this the QB only has to control a regulation snap for the easiest of FG's to put the team ahead with less than a minute remaining and the opposition down to 1 Timeout!!

I seem to be going through a real phase at the minute of following teams who find many ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory (Cowboys, Leg's, Liverpool, Adel United ....).

Thank god for the Aussie cricket team!!!

Don't know whether you've seen an interview with your Quarterback Constant, pretty heartbreaking - you've got to feel for the guy.

He had a shocker, not only did he fumble the snap, he could have dived to get a touchdown or at least a 1st down only to get dragged down from behind inches short.

Ive back New Orleans a few weeks ago to win the NFC @ $5-

No I haven't seen it MK, I'll have to watch Sportcenter tonight ... Despite yesterdays tragedy (nearly broke my self imposed "no grog in January" ban over it) I think Romo can turn out okay and definitely felt for the bloke*.

Had that terrible gut feeling during the game that we would blow it... If anyone saw our game against the Redskins earlier in the season you would know why

Congratulations to Sav Rocca on signing a 3 year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.
He said there's no guarantees for him but backup punters don't get 3 year contracts so they must see him stepping in to the starters role for next season.
