Anzac Day in Turkey - 2015

Postby Browny25 » Fri May 14, 2010 2:33 pm

THE AFL is set to look into an approach from the Turkish Government to move the Collingwood-Essendon Anzac day clash to Turkey for the Gallipoli centennary in 2015.

I dont mind the idea, but hate the fact that this would be an honour only for Collingwood and Essendon...

Never happen. Collingwood players don't have passports.

They wouldn't give up a 90 000 crowd attendance to play in Turkey!

Stupid idea...

Gallipoli should be respected for what it was, not an AFL match. The annual ANZAC clash at the MCG is fine as it is!

Which is why Eddie said there would need to be some substantial compensation if it were to happen.

I don't mind if Essendon and Collingwood go just so long as they give the Turks some machine guns to add to the authenticity of the day.

The ANZAC day game should be a rematch of the previous years Grand finalists, and certainly shouldn't be played in Turkey

Didn't they play an NAB pre-season game against the Crows in Dubai one year?
Eddie must have told the AFL that was their mileage for the millennium.
