He played alright and shouldn't of been dropped at all
They certainly may have regretted it if Brogan had not been able to come back on today..

Q. Who is the new Gavin Wanganeen of the AFL?

A. Robbie Gray.

Not a good look Robbie, you can't throw your head back and stage for free kicks everytime you feel contact, particularly when you are tackled around the waist.

Absolutely, that's why I think Gray is too good to go down that track. :)

Wanganeen only really carried on like that for a year or 2 - as soon as he dropped that nonsense out of his game, he got back to playing excellent footy again.

Big call to compare Gray and Wangas - i couldnt see Gray being able to play down back, in fact i think Gray will actually struggle to dominate anywhere else other than forward. Good player still, but not even in the same universe as Gavin Wanganeen.

Its alright for you REB ;) as a Cats supporter, you can tip your blokes confidently each week :D

If your mob performed how Port had the last 2 years you wound't have been confident today either. I felt that Essendon hit good form last week, and i had doubts on Port winning 3 in a row. I also wasn't that confident given Port's recent record at Etihad.

As it happened, it could have been won by either side. The great thing from a Port supporter's perspective was that it was yet another win in a close game this year.

Was very impressed with Paul Stewart, he's well truly establishing himself now as a first 18 player, and the big improver in the Port side.

Maybe Gee Dubya, but Essendon are shite and that match was never in doubt. ;)

Agreed, he's been very good this year IMHO.

There's almost a feel of 2007 about the current Power group, in that they surpassed most pundits expectations that year and appear to have grown in belief vastly this year ... Im not suggesting for a minute they will go as far as they did in 07, but they are playing some polished footy at times and many seem to have re-discovered their passion.

Was good to see Trengrove get another run, I reckon this kid is gonna be alright.

And Dom Cassisi imho is one of the best leaders in the AFL, still vastly underrated by many outside of Alberton.

I'm not sure us Power fans could really do with another 2007 either CP..!!

I questioned why we dropped Lobbe but it looks like the coaching staff got it right as Trengove was very good. Altho as previously remarked had Brogan not been able to continue it might have been a different story. Would like to see us try and accommodate both players at some stage.

And agree on Stewart. Probably isnt ever going to fill up the stat sheet to any great extent but looks to be a very team orientated player. Since coming back from his knock against the Weagles he has been one of our best defenders.

I don't reckon that will happen to Port ever again. They might again lose a Granny by a large margin but not by twenty goals. You guys got swept away by 44 years of frustration and it was party time early on when Choco threw up his hands.

If you made the granny this year you probably wouldn't win it, but you won't lose by 119 IMO.

Port will be lucky to get past the semi's this year if we even make the 8, yes we are looking good at the moment, but looking at our opposition we have played only geelong, brisbane and st. kilda whom have challenged us and we all know the results. Time will tell but i need to see us beat good sides consistently before i start talking finals, let alone grannies

I tend to agree. We're a legitimate finals contender, however I do not believe we are a chance to win any more than 1 final.

I think we can contend for a top 4 spot within 2 to 3 years though.

5-2 at present not bad for the Power, it won't be long before they start to struggle again.

Carlton, Melb, Richmond & Hawthorn over the next 4 weeks i think - so shouldnt struggle too much over that period. Gets decidedly tougher after then tho.

That's realistic NM. I think swooper has a higher amount of wins by the sounds though.

All 4 are winnable games. Would be disappointed if we didnt go at least 3-1 over the next 4 weeks. If Port can turn the corner at 8-3 then they are almost certain finalists this year.

You were spot on the money NM. Port really should have won both the Carlton & melbourne games whilst they just didnt want it enough on Saturday. Looks like it will tough to make the 8 from here.
