Wiggins is a strange one, I never understood why he even got drafted let alone selected in a SANFL league side.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Surprised South fans haven't mentioned Brent Tuckey yet, surely he was a recruit close to their hearts....

Loved the Old FootySA days, we were able to name a whole team of overpaid discards and drop-outs for the Bays. Valleys Virgin was on fire with some of his recollections - Scott Jordan, oh dear...

Any chance of findng that thread at all CA??? Would save a lot of time having to recall them all.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

It has been amusing over the years watching clubs spend big dollars on buying ex afl players and have failed.Remember Ron Fuller stating a couple of years ago they over rate themselves and generally not worth money they receive.Only really think Centrals overall have done well, other clubs have tried to buy a premiership and have failed miserably. From what i understand with Mark Alvey,Port paid him money upfront and the rumour was spent the money on gambling.

Wouldn't surprise me. He's that sort of person.

It was a philosophy the Fuller generally tried to bring to the Eagles. Look at the '06 flag, with Treeby, Passador, Powell, Colville (although injured), Inkster, all from Vic, and only really Passador came over with any fanfare, although he wasn't an AFL discard as such. These players come to make a name for themselves in a higher comp they have been playing, and have been working outside of football too, rather than thinking either they are too good or that the world owes them something. Of course, there will the odd exception either way.
It appears to be a philosophy Fuller is now continuing with South.

That was the one I came in here to post. Utter shocker for us, I still don't know what trouble he caused there.

The Dominator rarely played for sturt because he was always injured.
One weekend when unavailable for sturt through injury, he went and played a Carlton legends match and was promptly sacked by the club.
He wanted a clearance to Port, which was granted by the club on the proviso he paid back large sums of "up-front" match payments.
He didn't pay the club back by the deadline and so never got cleared to Port.

The closest one we would have had was Adrian Wilson but he played a brilliant 1-2? seasons before he ended up leaving.

It's probably been mentioned (didn't go through the whole thread) but Cam Faulkner's return was pretty cringeworthy.

Did Shannon Corcoran go round again at the Bay post Footscray?
Was Ian Prendergast ex-AFL at South?

I think Corcoran signed with Port when he returned from Footscray. Not sure he played a game though due to serious injury, maybe a handful of Reserves games.

He could run and he was 6'4 or 6'5 that would be a good start.

I remember playing against him at under 17 level. He did sign with Port on his return, but as mentioned I think he had a knee re-construction so would have only played a couple of games maximum.

Not many clubs can out-do North's trifecta
- Craig Burrows [from Freo]
- Steven Koops
- Daniel Ward

Obviously there are others but these 3 were all big wraps, big coin and big DUDS.
