Goolwa still pumped from last weeks win over pongy will again show pride in there jumper but will fall short in the dying minutes of the game. Mclaren to win but will suffer an injury to one of there gun players. 11-22 points

Geez Ninja...We have got enough injuries as it is!!!!

Sorry Yetti, but its what my Ninja intuition is telling me. That being said it has been wrong once or twice before.

He is a mail medallist, played U18s at Port this year as an overage player.

A 2 pointer I would have thought?

Was he still eligible for colts last year?? He was only 17 so i can only assume that he was eligible to still be playing colts so his A-grade games don't count towards the point system??

I would be careful and check on this as we were in the same situation and the points were allocated to the highest level he played at and just had a quick look on the gsfl site at the point program and it looks the same as ours, but it may have a different adaptation of this rule!

Just had a browse around the new website, looks good with some good info, just curious, Strath played in last years Grand Final and thay are allowed more points than willunga, and langhorne and mt compass who finished below them, did they apply for more points through some avenue

you will find that strath finished 4th last year on the ladder, the allocated points are based on where you finish on the ladder not where you come in finals

Willunga v Mt Compass

One of the best games I've attended in a long time !! :ymapplause:

Great stuff fantastic to watch.
I think even Willunga supporters were very excited with such a close game.

Compass came out firing in the first quarter - I reckon there was a 5 goal lead at one stage.
Played their hearts out.
I think BJ would agree that they (Mt Compass) came to play and were ready for a tough day.

Long story short...lol... in the dying minutes of the game Willunga stood tall and the final score:
Willunga 13-9
Mt Compass 11-10

I think Mt Compass did themselves proud and can hold their heads up.
A lot of youngsters in the compass team.
Well done guys O:)

Sorry Grape Ape - had enough trouble just posting the scores from my phone - let alone running commentary

In my opinion yank are definately the real deal and beating strath today is a awesome effort. Anyone got results from the other games played today??

yes Mum.. have to agree .. a fantastic game of football
great crowd and have to admit that the umpires were unnoticeable.. well down to them also
was fantastic end to end football - that last quarter was heart in mouth stuff

compass had a lot of good players.. maxie played consistently, oby brilliant game and 3 goals, jamal back for his first game with 5 goals - millie and creek (both) did really well
they are coming together really well - and will surprise more than a few by the end of the season..

could not believe that Hams got 6 goals - was well held for most of game but obviously took all of his chances - very good player especially in that last quarter onslaught..

congrats to all - shame the canteen shut just before half-time my two little ones were promised some lollies after halftime :(

maggies in another cracking game at mclaren. 1 point the final margin after the eagles lead all day!

Off day for willunga bj, or compass just on fire??

Yank winning is a big suprise to me. Looking good for a double chance at this stage, but remember, maggies won their first 4 last year including the scalps of strath and compass. Don't count your chickens just yet tigers, but you're looking the goods!

Well we run into a red hot Yankalilla who from all reports were too quick for Strathalbyn??

Damian, all credit to Mt Compass, they played to a game plan and all of their good players stood up! Was a very tough game with plenty of end to end footy and both defences working really hard!

In the 3rd quarter Compass kicked the first 5 goals and were 5 up before we pulled our fingers out and contested the footy and started to peg it back, we had the momentum going into the last but were 23 points down. What a final quarter by the boys! Started in the ruck with Bruiser starting to really take the ascendancy from Creek and we started to link and up and get the ball in quick and direct. For the dogs Maxfield, Milburn, Obushak and Creek were very good, they worked hard and continually pushed hard forward. Bailey was good across half back in a general like role leading a young dogs side that will test push a lot of sides this year! For us Pato was rock solid in defence again, Hamsy with 6 was a great target and Haskett and Genovese provided great stability and stood up when we needed them!

To hold the Dogs scoreless and bang on 6 goals ourselves was a great way to end the game and hopefully take some good form into next week!

was the yank side at full strength??

must have been a cracker game to watch, i did hear there was a situation in the last quarter Strath 3 points down, Marc Elliott plucks a mark and is heading back to take the kick for goal from 20-30 out. Umpire doesnt pay the mark calls play on, he gets tackled, ball turns over momentum goes back to yank and they kick a goal on the rebound. can anyone confirm this? im just going by a spectators comment.

well done to the yank lads though, its good to see them being alot more competitive and also to win up at strath makes the win better again, look forward to this years finals series in the GSFL, with some genuine contenders other than willunga. For strath, a loss early in the year wont hurt them at all.

Hey, was not at the game but heard it was a beauty. Looked as though Yank had 5 or 6 of there regular A grade players out, so they were far from full strength which is a bit scary
Lets hope this weeks game against Willunga is just as good.

How are goolwa looking without the lads that went to ironbank? Noticed they were amongst the best players on the weekend. Must be hard to replace them...

Good to see they are going well without them. I would imagine it will take more than a couple of handy recruits for ironbank to be competitive this year.
