37 overs
cowan 115*[116]

325 a likely score
cowan dominating, did score 70 odd v SA a few weeks ago.

NS 5/295
COWAN 119[120] wonderful innings
KATICH 83[97] nice to make runs
JAQUES 10[23]
THORNLEY 21[21]
CHRISTIAN 1 [3] came in 2 overs to go
KREJZA 2*[4]
HADDIN 47*[32] sensational AGAIN

NSW were 1/222 of [39] so a great fightback by the Vics.
Cowan continues to blossom, the investment now paying off
Katich good early but is not a big hitter and didnt finish off that well, but did his job

I think NSW erred in not batting Christian with 10 overs to go, the methodical Thornley
scored 21[21] batted when the dynamical Christain could have blasted the Vics.
Christain 228 runs at a s/rate of 80 was wasted today

Brett Haddin returned back to Canberra where he played for Canberra, he scored 133
there v Vics a decade ago.
47*[32] another belligerant innings to one of the sweetest timers of the ball in World cricket.
Haddin MUST go to the West Indies as a batsman + take over Martyns vacated spot.
Haddin before today has 285 runs at a strike rate of 105-50[today improved it !!!]
Haddin showed some arrogance today batting without a helmet.

The Vics looked lethargic at times , probably because they played a o/d game v QLD
on the friday night 2 days ago.
Hurricane Harwood was the pick of the attack 1/29[10]
Harwood is very under-rated.
Mckay continues his impressive apprenticeship 2/50[10] + a great last over taking 2 for 3.
Its good being captain as you dont have to bowl yourself, White a spineless 0/30[4]
Mcdonald a red headed David Wildy lookalike 1/52[8] disappointed.

Can the Vics make the 296 :?:
Maybe not, but NSW have a friendly attack.
The keys will be the guys who can score quicky Moss/Hussey/Blizzard
Blizzard has some explosion about him + lets watch the dynamo in action today.

NSW have the champion o/d bowler Nathan Bracken, who needs to bowl well to cover
the friendliness of the rest of the attack.

MALS PREDICTION
----------------------

Vics all out over 47 for 269

VIC in a good start
1/75
15 overs
klinger 46*[47] brilliant
blizzard 12*[18] ready to explode

BIRD FLU
----------
moss 4[23] out to a brilliant catch to Bird
moss lofted an on drive Bird 'soared' upwards stretched out and 'plucked' a great catch
bracken 6 overs 0/16 outstanding
Vic going nicely, have a slight hope from here.
Bird 0/13[2 overs] is struggling on this 'featherbed'
________________________________________________]
]
VI 2/231
42 OVERS
KLINGER101*[119]
WHITE 85*[82]

65 RUNS OFF 48 BALLS
VIC look certain winners

BUSHRANGERS AMBUSH THE BLUES
----------------------------------------

VIC 2/296
47.1 OVERS
KLINGER 123*[133]
WHITE 126*[100] 9x fours 5x sixes
BRACKEN 9 OVERS 0/33

Vics win and reach thier highest score in o/d comps.
White/Klinger 202 partnership
Katich the 2nd worst captain in Australian domestic cricket.

WHITE NOW HAS 316 RUNS AVE 64 THIS YEAR
White and Haddin can now book seats to the West Indies 2007 World cup
White played one of the most awesome o/d innings seen for many years

Klinger 123* had the dubious honour of being on the ground for both innings[ENTIRE GAME]
This is the man who cant make the Vic pura cup team
Surely Klinger into Mash[ ] would make great viewing in the pura cup!!!!!
8 years ago in the pura cup Klinger was on 99* when Captain Rieffell declared on him

Katich would need to see the video of this game
No mid wicket or long off for White = gross incompetency in the last 10 overs.
His management of Krezja/Bird/Coyte was very very poor[REB youre right he cant captain]

My man of the match WHITE naturally
All the White critics can now silence themselves after his
126* today + 77 v the powerhouse QLD attack makes this guy a star.

Special mention to Bracken 9 overs 0/33 a brave effort.

Devils advocate:

White 4 overs for 30 runs gone for over the odds (i.e. the run rate)

can we afford to take him to the West Indies on their postage stamp grounds.....ciuld we ll go for 10 an over....

Which of the two are going in Martyn's place, Hogg has the spinners spot locked up and has made valuable runs at 7, 8 & 9 over the last three years....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Very very very good point about the WI grounds being postage stamps
A few of Whites fours will go for sixes when hes batting
he hit 5 zacs today on one of the biggest grounds in the world
the Manuka oval is the same dimensions as the MCG.

SHOCKER!

Postby Rik E Boy » Mon Dec 11, 2006 8:38 am

Disgraceful effort by the Blues yesterday. There was a certain inevitability about the Victorian victory, yet we posted 296!!

Captaincy terrible again. Bird can't bowl, back to the second eleven for you..all over the shop and not good enough for this level. Krezja...ugh..nice catch mate you cost us the match and your bowling away from the SCG is just not threatening. Coyte showed some promise even though he bowled way to short but in just his second game he could be excused for that. Now Mr Katich, would you care to explain to me how Nathan Bracken managed to have an over up his sleeve when we were getting pasted all over the park you ******* idiot!! Bring back Haddin as Captain please!! :x Fielding also a joke, bloody terrible and I thought Victoria were bad earlier. A bad day at the office for the Blues.

I know HONREEKS is injured and Magilla has retired from Franger Cricket but what's up with Bollinger? Another NSW clanger is that Cowan hasn't been opeining all season. We are now gone with four losses in this comp and clearly don't deserve to be playing in the one day final this year. If we can get some bowlers back on deck then we are still a chance at the Moo Moo.

Nice work by Klinger and Mal's mate Whitey. White reminded me of Paul Collingwood yesterday...it just looked like we were never going to get him out. He is in far too muc form to drop not once, but bloody twice. See ya next year boys.

REB

REB

HenREBiques is injured[groin I think]
Bollinger also injured.
Nicholson ????

NSW play 2 off spinners WRONG
Should play Hauritz[much improved I thought he was useless, was i wrong, yep]
And play CASSON for variety.
Krejza is OK but Katich bowls him at inopportune times.

BEST NSW O/D TEAM
-------------------------

COWAN
JACQUES
KATICH
HADDIN
CHRISTIAN
THORNLEY
HENrebIQUES
CASSON
HAURITZ
BRACKEN
BOLLINGER

LEE/MCRATH/CLARK/CLARKE would be handy as well.

**** Casson off for Nicholson (forgotten about him). I don't think we can justify the two spinners away from NSW. I'd play Crazy-Ja ahead of Casson who I have seen bugger all of. Hauritz has surprised me this year as well. All that is left for the Blue Boys is the Moo Moo where you would have Nicholson and of course SCG in the side at the expense of Horrie and Casson.

REB
Dont wite off Bird , he did beat the bat on several occasions.
The downside was he had no control when bowling
Once again Katich erred, against QLD he bowled 6 overs 0/20 and looked the goods
and Katich didnt give him a 2nd spell when the spinners took a hammering.
He is adjusting to a new style of bowling after his suspect bowling action?
He has shortened his run up recently as well
His 3/30 v SA in the 2005/2006 final shows he has potential
He bowls at a brisk 14okm off a short run
I would perservere for a little while as the NSW bowling lacks oomph.
