Not good signs at the Lakers with so many injuries around at this stage of season but will win. Portland missing Dylan Frank with shoulder for a while and Reece Hamilton, but only a week or so. Portland would have liked to have had all on deck for the game against para hills. Should be way 2 good tho. The Lakers should still beat mitcham even with all the injuries tho.

Old Iggies over Seaton - OI were very very good last week
Mitcham over SMOSH - both teams with injuries, but mitcham play very well on SMOSH's oval
PAC over Scotch - 12 goals - too good
CBC over kilburn - gimmme
Para Hills over Portland - 2 goals - should be a cracker

Bird back this week, so that is almost a clean swap for Frank, would be nice to have both though
and hammers will be missed but back in a week or so!

He was cleared this week, and is named tomorrow for PH. He has been playing B grade at Salisbury North.

Maybe a few punching 30 but have atleast 5 years left in them at SAAFL level, its not as though they're old hacks.
Marshall maybe a dinosaur in some eyes but he can still play another 3 years the shape he's in, i'd say Portland would wishes Marshall was in their side!
The good thing about these older experienced players is they can help the youngsters out with direction & developement & we have alot of good young ones in our A grade team & squad.

As for Jarman, i did hear after our game last week he'll slip on the boots. All i can say to that is the depth their ( CBCOC) is non existant for a 44 year old to be lacing up.

Marshall is still a very good player, and yes I would say portland would want him in there side, at least if I was coach I would.
Only problem with blokes that age is if they do get an injury then they can take a while to recover from it and it can become a reccuring problem for them
But like you said the positives like developing and helping young guys far out ways the point I made!

Nothing wrong at all with having older, experienced guys in the team. No one was saying its a bad thing, i think the point was just being made that Seaton are not the youngest side going around - infact, i would say at a guess they are the oldest in D3, but not 100% sure on that. The experience of those blokes will be a positive, no doubt.
We lack players in the 25-30 age group - have heaps in the 18-22 bracket. That has its negatives and positives too. Ideally, we would like to have a couple more experienced players in the line-up.
Not many 35 year old would be in as good as shape as Marshall though, he is definately the exception rather than the rule.

ive really noticed the fact that this div doesnt have many kids (under 20) for the lack of a better word.

In regards to depth: We prob have 6 or 8 from our A grade squad injured, coming back from injury or coming back through the scoobies because of their non availability due to other commitments. Depth is a problem for our 33 yr old club. But not to the extent where we are panicking about it. It has defiantly improved and the club is growing. I think its only us and Para Hills that are the only clubs who have not been higher than div 3. 3yrs ago we struggled to fill a B grade and had no C grade. Non existent is bit of an over statement though.

We have never been higher than D3 either Flipper - not as an amalgamated club anyhow. Our highest finish in D3 has been 7th.
