Piccachu, I think you will find Iggies new recruits had a lot to say in the win. White, Atkinson, Pedler all starring.....

I disagree to some extent, threestars. White only had 2 goals to 3/4 time, before kicking 5 of Iggies' 10 last quarter goals. I also thought Pedler was reasonably well held most of the day, as was the captain, Frinsdorf. I agree that Atkinson starred, especially in the 1st half when he kicked 4. Overall, I thought it was a very good team performance from Iggies that contributed to the size of the win, rather than the influence of the recruits.

Based on their last 2 performances against Kilburn and Mitcham, I am really looking forward to the clash with Seaton this Saturday. In my opinion it will give a true indication of where Iggies are currently at.

Yep. Iggies have shown in the past to have the ability to play some really good football, but an inconsitency to back it up over the course of the year. With a few experienced recruits this year, that could very well change and it will be interesting to see how they fare against one of the other measuring sticks of the competition, after an unlucky loss to PAOC in round 1.

piccachu wrote:just one dissapointing thing about the umpires was what they had to say at half time, the umpires came in to both changerooms and told officials from both clubs that they were not happy with the way the game was heading and were going to start blowing the whistle more for things they had let go in the first half, i think thats fair enough if the game is getting a touch ugly but there were no instances that were remotly giving the indication that tempers may boil over and get nasty, the whole game was played in great spirit by both sides as anzac day games should be, and IMO second half of the game was determined by the umpires instead of the blokes playing which resulted in a SMOSH player getting sent off because of whistle happy umpireing

talking of umpires and i wont go into our field umpires on saturday as always can bag them etc etc, but our our goal umpires left the field at 3/4 time on the weekend and i dont think they were to keen to come back out in the rain wasnt torrential either. the umpire went to start the last quater and there was a bit of confusion why the siren wasnt being sounded, actually come to think of it just showed how inexperienced our field umpires were as there was obviously no communication between the umpiring group at the break for then not to notice they were not even on the field.

anyone from paoc know why they left the field? i know one umpire was frantically looking at the scoreboard when he walked back out and making a point with somebody.

they went too put wet weather jacket on, not sure why/how it took them 10mins to do so. but yeah the feild ump went to throw the ball up and didnt even check to see if there where goal umps there. then one of them decided to check the scoreboard which was off by a point or something. either way only held the game up a minute or 2. and gave us a laugh.

to be honest i thought that para hills just had too few doing to much, guys like flynn, bamford and the big bald bloke who plays in the guts need to do too much to get them over the line. ive heard they have some quality out but come the last quater we were 4goals up at 3/4 time and kicked the first couple so it was all but over because those blokes had worked there tails off.

i thought in general it was a good even game but we just seem to get more consistent ball out of the guts and kept bamford to probably only 15-20 touches instead of his 35+ and so got the most of them. (didnt tag him just got first touch so was contained somewhat)
the umps were not too bad imo, but again they seem to be whistle happy. not sure if its because of sloppy footy or that they have been told to keep a tight lid on things but they seem to blow it a lot.

Mitcham v Iggies game up till half time was a pretty good game. Iggies prob always had the answers to what Mitcham were throwing at them. 3rd qtr was prob the defining qtr as Mitcham were throwing everything at Igiges but as they say scoreboard pressure is what counts and Mitcham just couldnt kick a goal. I believe they kicked 5 points and Iggies were held to 1 goal. So if Mitcham had taken the most of their chances goin into 3qtr time it may have been a different game. Last qtr was just an Iggies massacre, all their guns stood up and demoralised Mitcham. Iggies a very good side. Atkinson and Pedlar just controlled their fwd line. Iggies are going to be hard to topple. Skills very clean very good side. Mitcham v Smosh game will be a cracker as will Seaton v Iggies

As a Broadview man, we used to love playing Kilburn and the battles we had are famous in Div 1, how bad are they again this year?? They were in a lot of trouble last year, and by the looks, they haven't improved at all. Have they lost more players?

Tips this week-

Iggies too good for Seaton, 6 goals.
SMOSH to get over Mitcham, 4 goals.
PAOC to smash the livin' suitcase out of Scotch, 12 goals plus.
CBCOC ditto to Kilburn, 16 goals plus.
The Thunder to win against the Big Reds in a close one, 1-2 goals.
