Why would Maric fear Brogan ? Brogan's specialty is over-weight opposition supporters and people walking their dogs in the parklands - Ivan doesnt fit into any of those catergories...

History shows that it's good to be the underdog at times. Lord knows the Power have knocked us off in quite a few Showdowns when ladder positions and form suggested that we would win them easily.

Time to get our own back. ;)

Port will kick five goals and declare. ;)

Interesting to see that in the Power forum a fair few Port supporters are back pedalling already and not giving themselves a chance on Saturday.... With all of their current superiority and smoking hot form surely they are red hot favourites ?? :-s

I guess history has shown the underdogs are just as good a chance of winning as favourites in the Showdowns.

If the Crows can't lift for this game and put in a massive effort (not necassarily win) then maybe Craig should be sacked.

I think this is one of those weeks were Craig has to forget about zones, clusters etc and go 1on1 by the end of the game he will know which players are at the club for the long haul.

You would think Port would love nothing more than to kick there rivals while their down and send them into a wooden spoon battle game against Richmond the following week.

They are used to letting themselves and their supporters down so they play themselves down towards the end of the week just in case they fall over. But at the start of the week its all love and were back talk.

Its also funny to note the name calling and pettiness they use in the Port thread! Inferior complex?

All showdowns are even choccies, regardless of ladder positions. Any port supporter talking this game up as a certainty is kidding themselves....yes we are favourites and on ladder positions should win the game, but if we pull a performance such as brisbane or 2nd half against the cats, expect the crows to break the duck.

Dangerfield is a bit of a loss. That said he has been more about flashes of individual brilliance this year rather than consistent 4 quarter effort.

Don't get me wrong, he's definitely been one of our better players this year but at the same time I think we can cover him.

I think its more a case of looking at history and past Showdowns, which genuinely show that any game between the 2 clubs is a 50/50 game. Who would have thought that Port would have won the first game in 97, their first year in the AFL and a Crows premiership year. Similarly, would anyone expect the Crows to beat Port in the first Showdown in 04 given they won the flag that year.

If the ledger is looked at, i think there's one game separating the 2 clubs as far as wins in Showdowns is concerned. And Neil Craig, for all the criticism being directed at him at the moment, does have a considerable advantage in the head-to-head games against Williams.

I've selected Port to win by about 2 goals, but past history has shown me that these games can't be tipped with any confidence.

All but confirmed that Jaensch will play. All the best to the bloke, had to dig deep after that incident when he was about to play in the U/18 Champs and has worked hard to get where he is today.

I am very confident he will be a class act at AFL level.
