Kicked an absolute beauty infront of the stand to seal it. Captain's effort in the final quarter with 3 goals I reckon.

no - mercy im guessing the people who were responnsible for all the ' Ron bashing ' this afternoon dont have the mental capacity to turn on a computer. And for all the eagles supporters with half a brain actually realise what Ron brought to their club and South are more than happy to have him on board. And he may well have been Souths 19 man on the field today. Def exposed a few players today

You were quick to bag the bloke when he ventured out South, now we don"t hear boo!
For a bloke that can't coach ( by Eagles supporters standards ) he knew alot about his opposition today & shut them all up in the best way possible ( on the scoreboard )
Well done Ronny.

Interesting to see Godden use FLOODING tactics (approx. 10 min mark) in the last 1/4 when their side was down by 2 or 3 goals.

I could not work that one out. Thought you would want to attack at that early stage in the game. :?

Godden put Salter back behind the ball at about the 20 minute mark when the Eagles were 2 and a half goals down. I thought that was very strange as well and mentioned it at the time. Then straight away the Eagles went forward into an empty forward line and Grocke ran in for the open goal. It's moments like that you know why the coach is the coach and supporters are just supporters!

Well Done Panthers! Thought in the 3rd term the Eagles might run away with but to come from 3 down at the last change is a great effot. South also came from behind to win against Norwood earlier in the season too..
Be interesting to see how both teams come up this week with the short break. I think South play Port at Alberton on saturday. Always a danger game at Alberton, Port winless too and the Eagles playing a freshend up Westies on Sunday at Woodville..

Just on another topic, Life FM commentry team are the best by far. Much better than the 5rph"Smithfield Crash Clanger" team.

Its a shame that the actual South vs Eagles thread is actually locked, would love to quote a few posts in there for a response, MickyJ always posts back unlike some of the others over there who wont be heard from for another week or so...

Well at least I'm not getting verbally bashed ;) .And it takes a while to drive from noarlunga to taperoo ;) stop off and pick up takeaway for the daughter etc.
To be honest I had this feeling Ron would win this one a point to prove .Round 5 our first loss .other years we may have lost 2 or 3 games by round 5.
Well done south again

Very much agree with your sentiments Mr F, my understanding is that the WWTFC and Ron parted ways on good terms and it was felt by the WWTFC that they needed a new direction coaching wise, which is why Godden was identified as the appropriate person to implement those changes at the club, the feedback prior to today is that the members can see a definite difference in the game plan that Godden is instilling at the club and are relatively happy that the right decision was made by both parties, why the constant bashing of Fuller goes on by a minority is beyond me, perhaps people think that the club should have won more finals against Central, yet their sheer dominance over the SANFL in that time and the fact that no other side could even get near them suggests that its not quite the walk in the park coaching wise that its believed to be.

Fuller is the right coach for South at this time and time will only tell where we will go from here, yet like Sturt and the days of Phil Carman, I do see Ron making this side competitive and pushing our club back into the finals and playing some competitive footy.

Well said Sojourner. I think it is a win/win for South and the Eagles so far.

I thought Fuller left the Eagles in a terrific position for Godden to take over, because he played a lot of young players last year. I would think (or at least hope) that most Eagles supporters very much appreciate the job that Fuller did. I would also think that most are happy with what Godden has done so far.

As you mentioned, it sounds like the club and Fuller parted ways on good terms. I have not heard Fuller say anything bad about the Eagles nor have I heard any one that matters at the Eagles say anything bad of Fuller since he left. It would be appreciated if the few morons that constantly take a dig at Fuller just shut up.

It's a long season and I will be interested to see how Fuller goes at South, but am more interested in seeing Godden continue to implement his own style on to the Eagles and watch how that develops over the coming weeks/months.

I hope the Panther supporters listening in both at the ground and in their cars on the way home enjoyed me going into South's rooms post game and sticking the microphone in the huddle as the boys sung the club song :D

South were too good today, applying great pressure on the Eagles for the full four quarters. I thought our decision making was poor for the most part which I think was partly due to South's pressure.

After this effort I'm hoping we can fire up for an important game on Sunday against West.

For the record, I commend the work of the scoreboard attendant and had no problem with the PA volume (I don't like its use between goals however and hope my club doesn't adopt it, but that's just my opinion).

Funny how people with very few posts pick on me very very fast when the Eagles lose.
well done south to good today.Looking at the south players and fans after they won the game you'd have thought they'd won the Grand final.

eagles not switched on today .
Unlike the twit with the microphone except in the third term when he went missing.

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I thought the commentry on the Mini League game was quite funny. Seriously good call of the game realy enjoyed it. Good break from DB getting players names wrong and the constant reminders of station sponsers..Keep up the good work. Just Another question, were the commentry team sitting near the statisticians by any chance coz you could hear them in the background counting?

Bulldogga, thanks for the kind words about the LifeFM call...

Yes, unfortunately our commentary set up was right next to the Champion Data stats callers which was also down wind from us so that is why you could hear the stats being called out in the background...

I could hear them too on my radio (on my iPod) down on the boundary line...

Lesson learnt for the next time we call from Noarlunga, we'll be sure to sit the opposite end of the stats guys...

Great game of footy to call, good atmosphere down there and a wonderful crowd of just over 3000. Well done and thankyou to Andrew Osborne and the South Adelaide Football Club for an invite to the pre-game luncheon as well.
