What was the volume level of the P.A. like?
Are earplugs/muffs still needed?
Congrats on the stirring win.

To be openly honest I did not tip South to win today as no doubt did most people. South have a young list with players that played today their fourth game of SANFL football at this level and its been my thought that South will improve likely on a week by week basis as experience is gained across our list and players begin to gel and find their place in the side.

What I am seeing different to South is that players are putting in the full four quarters of football and not giving up and we are beginning to tap into the mindset that this team can win games of football despite the recent history of the club on the field.

Although its still very early in the season, I do think its beginning to become apparent why the decision to get Ron Fuller into the club was the right decision. I do feel he has the capacity to improve South from the wooden spooner position of the SANFL if he is left to set about the job in the best way he knows fit.

Still plenty of games to go yet this season, yet absolutely fantastic to see some real improvement from South today, long may it continue!

well i thought at lemon time if south believed they'd win with that 4-5 goal breeze that basically wasn't used properly in the first 3 terms then they would win

what was stuart hill thinking in the last term ?

was standing behind the goals (last 1/4) & one of mckernans goals was actually a point  :D

while south don't have the polish of some of the top teams, they definately have a crack & are full of intensity & run

well done to south (further away from the bottom & closer to a finals berth  )
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Wooooo Hooooooo!

Our midfield schooled the midfield of the Eagles and I loved every minute of it.

And I'll add a thankyou to the umpires in the last quarter and the goal umpire who gave us a goal when it clearly was a point to put us 10 points up! ;)

Hello Eagles people, anyone out there??????

Well done Ron

Unlike some of the idiotic eagles supporters on here who bagged you I always thought you still had it and you showed how well you coach today.

Anyway I thought it was a great game to watch and one of the biggest eagles v south crowds I can remember in the last 10 years.

Eagles looked good at times but I always felt there was a question mark on our midfield. While they performed solidly for the first three quarters our lack of pace proved our weakness in the last quarter when south were able to generate run when the needed it most. Salter was clearly our best player and kept us in the game with some great work in front of goal. Welsh is a joke - should never have been recruited in place of the 'gun' midfielder we really needed. The coaching staff will have to wear this one.

South have some very very good young midfielders and McKernan was fantastic. Looks like Fuller has instilled some discipline and belief into the club and good luck to the club. This result might have been considered an upset but I think there is going to be plenty more over the season when south play.

Very much agree with your sentiments Mr F, my understanding is that the WWTFC and Ron parted ways on good terms and it was felt by the WWTFC that they needed a new direction coaching wise, which is why Godden was identified as the appropriate person to implement those changes at the club, the feedback prior to today is that the members can see a definite difference in the game plan that Godden is instilling at the club and are relatively happy that the right decision was made by both parties, why the constant bashing of Fuller goes on by a minority is beyond me, perhaps people think that the club should have won more finals against Central, yet their sheer dominance over the SANFL in that time and the fact that no other side could even get near them suggests that its not quite the walk in the park coaching wise that its believed to be.

Fuller is the right coach for South at this time and time will only tell where we will go from here, yet like Sturt and the days of Phil Carman, I do see Ron making this side competitive and pushing our club back into the finals and playing some competitive footy.

Well done boys . . . . certainly the lads physical conditioning and whether rons fresh ideas have sparked them but there run and pressure on the ball carrier when we dont have the ball is something we have lacked for a long time. And our skill level has certainly improved. Not bad in trying conditions today. Who ever was in charge of recruitment well done. The young lads from Victoria are ten fold on the truck loads of rejects we have seen come and go over the last decade and do nothing. They might not be AFL name players or superstar players but the do the hard work and dont play for them selves

Now lets just wait for the eagles bagging of the umpiring. Ill admit couple dodgy calls but to entirely blame that would be a cop out considering it was a nine goal last quarter.

Big scalp to take they are a class outfit the eagles .....

As an impartial spectator of the game today, there is a lot for Panthers supporters to like about their mob this year.

Even though the Eagles looked to put a decent gap on the in time on of the 3rd quarter, thought the Eagles did it with a fair bit of help from the umpires during that period, Panthers were able to hold it together and outrun the Eagles in the last

Panthers looked a bit to quick for the Eagles for mine. Well done

Aerie wrote:The Eagles won the toss and kicked with a strong 4 goal breeze in the opening quarter. It looked like the Eagles may get away, but South pegged them back to be 5 goals each at the quarter time break. The 2nd quarter saw the Eagles hang in there against the breeze and did well to be just the one goal down at half time. The first 17 minutes of the 3rd quarter was an arm wrestle. Tough, contested football. There were no goals scored and this was a big win to South. But, just when the quarter looked to be a big win for South by closing the game down, the Eagles burst through to kick 4 goals in the last 7 minutes and go in to 3 quarter time 3 goals up with all the momentum. The final quarter was a shootout. South kicked the fist two, then it was goal for goal, before South proved to be too good, piling on 9 goals and ending up winning convincingly.

It was a really good game of footy. Despite the conditions, the skills were good. South won the stoppages and generally moved the ball on quicker than the Eagles. Two bizarre goal umpiring decisions in the last quarter. Both down the same end - one looked like Thewlis kicked a clear goal and it was awarded a point and then a minute later McKernan kicked a point and it was awarded a goal.

For the Eagles, Salter was fantastic with 7 goals. McKenzie, Lewis and Rowntree were all pretty good. In the end though, South played the better footy and deserved their win. The Eagles now back with the pack and in danger of losing a spot in the 5 if they lose to West next week.

Very good recap Aerie. Spot on.

Magnificent win. Magnificent last quarter in particular. Fuller you legend. :D

Better players for south were McKernan (best game for the club), Liddle, O’Keefe, Cockshell, Horne, Rolfe and Thewlis.
Great to see a good turn out too (3000), plenty of noise in that final 30 minutes.

Southee is still pumped up after today!!

Fantastic win by the boys.
At the start of the game the Eagles came out strong kicking the first few goals. I thought to myself this could be a disaster waiting to happen here. To South's credit they came back with a fight. Something that the team would never do in past performances.
Liddle, McKernan, Horne, Warren and Rolfe were outstanding for South but really everyone in the side put in a great team effort.
I feel alot of teams are coming down to Noarlunga with not having much respect for South thinking it's going to be a easy 2 point win. I reckon the times are changing....and when teams come down with that attitude they are really getting caught out by a gutsy, determined and fighting side.
I did not think the Eagles were bad. South were the better side and had more desire to win that game.
At the game, it was fantasic to hear the Eagles supporters fighting each other on top of the hill. Great for a bit of comedy at the game. I would have been so embarrassed to hear that as a supporter of the side.
The constant "Fuller bashing" of the Eagles supporters was also very poor IMO. I thought they would be happy with what he did with your club and the success he gave you. Start looking ahead instead bad mouthing the past!!!
After the players left the field it was also poor to hear the Eagles supporters "boo" South as they left the field....sour grapes!!! I am sure we will hear more about the umpires from the Eagles supporter base on this thead.
BTW...the PA system was good. Turned down and toned down...alot better than previous games.

I am off to celebrate with a nice cold beer. :D
Well done South Adelaide. ;)

Not to many Eagles supporters posting, where are you all?
You were quick to bag the bloke when he ventured out South, now we don"t hear boo!
For a bloke that can't coach ( by Eagles supporters standards ) he knew alot about his opposition today & shut them all up in the best way possible ( on the scoreboard )
Well done Ronny.

Funny how people with very few posts pick on me very very fast when the Eagles lose.
well done south to good today.Looking at the south players and fans after they won the game you'd have thought they'd won the Grand final.

eagles not switched on today .
Unlike the twit with the microphone except in the third term when he went missing.

Interesting to see Godden use FLOODING tactics (approx. 10 min mark) in the last 1/4 when their side was down by 2 or 3 goals.

I could not work that one out. Thought you would want to attack at that early stage in the game. :?
