apparently the problem arised from puting ben on a form instead of benjamin or vice versa and if this is the case how absurd ,such trivialities to cost you a game of footy , i thought this was amatuer league and if this indeed stands up then until every players birth certificates are lodged to the league then how can we be sure of anyones identity , ridiculous

Big sigh of relief at AL last night after breaking the duck yesterday.
Only a point in it at half time, but we managed to kick away in the 2nd half.
Smithfield, like us, seem to have a new side still looking to gel, but I think they are better than 0-3 suggests and will win their share of games this year.
Was a good, hard game...
Dickie kiced 3 and had a big 1st half but was quiet in 2nd.

catch i agree they are better than 0-3 but the major concern for them is their lack of depth imo.that is what the competition is gonna come down to, who can keep their best sides on the park and if you cant what depth your club has.having no under 18s is not gonna help smithies sadly

Yep, good point.
We had a very handy B grade side running around yesterday, and C grade has been in good form too. But we have no Juniors either.
We play you guys in a fortnight i think??

Great win for the dogs Catchy

I suspect Div 5 has been a great division for a couple of years now and is significantly stronger last time the Dogs were in it....

Probably 4 teams in this div who at this stage could lay claims to being a grand finalist...Brahma, Elizabeth, Plympton, Heccies....with every other team fighting for a finals spot or to avoid relegation...Each side will be much better the second time round against the big 4. Lutherans were ahead against the Lodgers at quarter time but then stopped hitting targets and were overwhelmed by the size, confidence and strength of a very well drilled confident team.

Smithfield were a good young side (except Donald) who were hard at it, clean and fair. Hopefully they stick together.

A side note..the quality of the kranskys at Thebarton was superb yesterday again...finest innovation from the league since i score..

A challenge for every club in Div 5....Adelaide Lutheran have strong German heritage....we would love the Kransky themed division to continue..

Heccies you were outstanding but bigger hotplate needed!!!

yeah heard that tonight, not the way we wanna win games of footy (we certainly didnt play well enough on the day), but we'll take it. every point and every bit of percentage is crucial, especially when its a 14 goal to zero win.. spuing if you miss a double chance or the top 5 (very unlikely on the 2nd one) by a game....

what do people think about the big percentage booster?? In my opionion a 14 goal win is hard to come by and doesnt seem fair to the teams who are winning by big margins.

im not saying its your fault and if it were my team i dont think anyone would object to taking the percentage but maybe its something that should be changed i mean you deserve something considering they broke the rules but i would be surprised if anyone beats elizabeth by 14 goals this yr. for me it seems a little bit over the top i dnt think it should be that much

its not over the top at all... rules are rules... abide by them and you have nothing to worry about (even though i reckon this was just a mistake)...

Disapointing result for us yesterday against Plympton. They played really well and smashed us all over the ground, good luck for the rest of the year lads.

I thought we did have some positives to come out of the match. Again our disipline was good, there were a few scuffles towards the end of the match but overall it was pretty good and we ended up only giving away one 25m penelty which was good to see. Plympton may of won by 15 goals but I thought we fought it out well everyone gave it a good crack, it would of been a different story last year. I thought our biggest positive was that we didn't lose it at each other or at the umpires meaning we are becoming a better team each week.

Specials mentions i'll give to Kyron Dixon, who played his first game on the weekend as a 16 year old. Played really well and stood out for most of the match, unluckly not to get in the best players. A few guys need to look at what he did during the game and see what they can do to improve their own performances.

Next week is an absolute must win game against Lutheran, no excuses. We really have to win this one to keep being competitive this season, to gain some confidence in ourselves and keep the positive vibe going.

there were some very good signs through out the grades.. one thing i thought your A's did good was you guys never stopped running... The guy with the dreads can play... Also that young lad has some talent....
certainly alot of positives to take out of yesterday....

i would have thought plympton score would be what would have happened if elizabeth forfeited (think it could be a 10 goal win). either way to have 0 points conceded is very handy for percentange.

As for heccies being premiership contenders, I think this week against elizabeth will show where we stand in division 5. Happy to be 3-0 but these are the games we need to win.

Went and watched the 1st half of the Brahma vs Eliz game today.

Brahma with about 10 new guys from last yrs GF, look a new team. Some handy additions too, No 11 and Aloisi are smooth movers and the old short guy (No 9 i think) got a fair bit of it. Both BL and Eliz have some big boys in their sides. I reckon there would have been 10 blokes over 100kgs when the first whistle was blown!

Both sides look to be very experienced and I would expect both to be around the mark come September.
