That's an absolute disgrace.. those fellas should be ashamed of themselves.

Got to agree limb. But you do have to love footy karma. I seem to remember the current GPE coach and Gigney jumping $hip from Encounter Bay to Goolwa about 6 or 7 years ago the week before the first round after having made a committment to the Bays to play again.

Great Call..............dewkicker!

Surely success can't be a reason going to Ironbank.

The club will move on, we will have 21 fit players in both grades this week who will be playing to win and playing with pride for the club.

As for replacing the lads this season, watch this space.

Maybe a merger with the Port Adelaide Women's Football team is in order Damian. Might gain a bit more depth that way.

Unfortunately that wouldn't work.

TIHS happens and the club will move on, the past is dead, the future unborn.

Disappointing for Goolwa, very disappointing. I feel for Simon, hes a great bloke and puts in a lot of effort so to be rewarded like this must be shattering for him and the rest of the people who do the work at the Magpies. Good luck to the boys at Ironbank, if they are chasing success i cant see why theyd leave Goolwa to go there!

Strath are putting together a fantastic unit. Theyve added some stars to an already very very good side. The Victor v Strath game over the weekend wouldve been a great spectacle judging by the scores at the quarter time breaks, both sides will be right amongst it come September.

Well done to Pongy over the weekend too. A great turnout after the game in our clubrooms and im sure the favour will be returned at their home later in the season!

Yes we did enjoy a few there BJ, think i left at 10pm. I didn't know how many people, including yourself, needed glasses at Willunga. No.29 was best by a long way! ;)

myponga to open account against the maggies
bulldogs at home to pull away from the Bays in the second half
willunga again after a struggle - with victor to be 1-2 and in the bottom half of the table
mclaren to give a better showing but Yanks probably with a little more class - Yanks still not yet to be properly tested until maybe next week
pace setters Strath over the Creeks hopefully the creeks will dig in and push them to the end

Some good games for the ANZAC weekend!!

GPE to unite and take the points over Myponga in front of an extremely large crowd. If you're not playing and looking for a game to watch, the atmosphere at Goolwa will be electric. Maggies by 10-20.
Bulldogs still have too much depth for Bays. 20-30.
Willunga with their experience will overpower Victor. 20-30.
Yankalilla too good for McLaren this year. 50-60.
Strath, looking the goods early on especially after their 0-3 (i think, but may have been 0-2??) start to last year. Creeks will fight all day but the Roosters by 20-30.

I understand the 3 players exiting Goolwa to Ironbank may be dealt with via the courts. This could be a costly process for both clubs... wow. This topic just gets hotter.

Are Goolwa going to test the viability of the CFB contracts? Will be watching with interest

There plenty of gossip coming out of Goolwa/Port Elliot FC at the moment.

I've heard a rumour that a former magpies junior who's now playing for the Roos is considering a return to the club because he's unhappy about not getting picked in the A's for Victor last week.

I reckon its time a club did something to test the contracts. I bet if a club didnt pay the agreed $$ every week a player would quickly point to the contract that was signed between both parties and agreed on for the whole season.

I think you'll find Ironbank are testing the contracts. I know lawyers have been called.

Would be great to have players return to the club after losing these 3 players during the week.

There will be two familiar faces back on deck this weekend, the Griffen boys.

Hopefully it doesnt get too carried away because this can be resolved without courts. Fortunately (for clubs using CFB) and maybe unfortunately (for players bailing on agreements), these contracts will stand up to legal action.

From what I'm told LF both parties (Players & Goolwa) came to an agreement that they'd be cleared upon payment of Football Boots. Apparently in the termination clause of the contract both parties can terminate the contract by coming to an agreement. I know Ironbank are willing to compensate for the boots as well as other things. Unfortunately if it goes to court etc that condition in the termination clause will be tested. I would hope both clubs would be professional enough to sort this out between each other otherwise it just gets very ugly.

Goolwa/Port Elliot hold all the aces.

They have the contracts and should they allow them to be terminated, can charge Ironbank whatever they like for compensation, it will be more than a pair of football boots. The 3 lads will not be playing legally this week. There is no way the Community Football Board will support the players on this issue.

If this comment is in regaurd to me limb I would check ur mail sources. I have attended 2 trainings for victor this year (in feb!!) so would not think I would be looked at for selection in B grade let alone A grade. My work arrangements have changed in a very large way and will place restrictions on my football, if I play and where I play. So limb don't post crap with zero truth behind it!!

I may not suit up at all. I have a few things to clear up before I make that choice of if I play or who I play for. As I said my situation has changed and could change who I play for if at all. If I was to leave victor it would not be due to anything like stated it would be due to other issues, victor are a great club with a great side.

The courts take 6 to 12 months to get your case heard, the independant tribunal will rule in favour of the contract, as the judge said in troy and danno"s case the contracts are binding, These guys have no chance of playing for Ironbank unless Goolwa/Port Elliot releases them from there contract.
