hacky3, dont be fooled by his skills. yes, he looks the goods at training, but sh!ts himself whenever he gets within 10m of the sherrin.
although, i must admit, he did start to change that halfway through last season, so he might be alright now.

Was told by league officials recently that not clearing contracted players is a common practice within the league, perhaps not with all clubs but with more than you may be led to believe. Even the "cherised" Muddies have been "guilty" of this practice although I'm sure if you ask them they may say differently, players on the receiving end of not being cleared from pongy will say otherwise. Something people also need to remember is that signing a contract to a club in the AFL or SANFL is binding and is very difficult to get out of. You may argue that they get paid, so do contracted A graders in the SFL so why should it be any different within a lower tier league of football?
The reason why this has been so publisized is clubs surrounding Aldinga don't mind the Sharkies receiving a bit more bad press because it means more players leaving Shark Park and more playing for them. This is the same old treatment that we have received for years but now instead of dwelling on it we continue to improve the club and create a more positive attitude about the club.
Also I find it strange PP that you are so quick to tee off at the club even though you are a Aldinga lad, could it be that you are another local that has thrown playing for your LOCAL club in the too hard basket and is playing for SOMEONE ELSES town. If you are so passionate about the Sharkies doing the right thing how about you come down the Shark Park and show that passion by playing for YOUR town?

No player has missed a game of footy. Players who have been contracted to Myponga & wanted to leave, have been let go after the two clubs agreed on a deal. A few years ago i signed a very handy Valley player, he had a change of heart so i let him go. Could of held him out of footy for that year but what do you gain from that? I dont want to see Dingy struggle, lived in Dingy for 20 years & i know Brad & think hes doing a good job. But at the end of the day if someone doesn't want to play for you & i know as a coach i dont want them playing for me, come to an agreement, let them go & move on. This is only a personal opinion.

You have a valid arguement but something that needs to be considered is what does this say to young players going through the Aldinga system? You can sign a contract with us for X amount of years but if you choose to play somewhere else next year because you have had a change of heart that there is no need to honour that agreement? As footy clubs we need to be teaching our young players important life values, not just how to play footy. We are in a position of mentorship whether we like it or not and to teach a young man that a signed contract is worth nothing and isn't worth sticking to then how is this going to help them when they hit the work force or buy a house? I know this wouldnt be the main reason in why most people at the club want to see the contract honoured but for me personally I find it sad that young footy players are not being encouraged to stick to contracts but rather break them and play elsewhere because they have had a change of heart. This helps breakdown values such as loyalty and honour.
Also Aldinga has been a revolving gate for U18 players as we are pilferred by other local clubs. They step up into our seniors, sign a contract, maybe play a full year and then leave for Pongi, Vale or Willunga. If we are not going to hold them to those contracts then what is the point of even writing them?
It would be interesting to see some of these other local clubs in our shoes, trying to hold onto players when we are surrounded by GSFL clubs, and to see what they would do.
