Totally agree.
Can understand paying out as a show of good faith to punters once it is mathematically impossible but after round 4

Richmond and Melbourne opened up both $4 when markets opened. Both came into $2.50 after round 1.

Paves the way for them to open up a "Who will finish 15th" market and try to recoup some of their losses?

Those odds are about the most absurd odds Ive ever seen in a footy market

Why is it absurd ?
$1.01 would be about the right price i would've thought.
Richmond will be lucky to get within 15 goals.

UNBELIEVABLE............ Fremantle have now drifted to an amazing $1.02 with tattsbet after a flood of money has forced them to shorten richmond into $12 from $13.

Excuse my ignorance, but could someone please explain the concept of a line bet?

I've only ever really bet on win and first goal.

Cheers

line bet is a handicap bet- the favoured team in an event starts on minus points, the other starts on plus points.
eg #1 Fremantle -53.5 @ $1.91 means for the punter to collect on Fremantle $1.91 Line bet, Fremantle need to win by 54 points or more.
eg #2 Richmond +53.5 @ $1.91, Richmond must lose by 53 points or less.
the ".5" factor is to eliminate the prospect of a draw

Richmond can also win in the above scenario.

Effectively they have a 53 point head start...
