You don't get a bad side for $75,000.

boys and girls make no mistake. yank will be right amongst it in 18 weeks time. will give willunga more than a run for their money. im not sure how much some of the yank lads are costing the club but its definately money well spent. alot of quality!

Jesus, what the hell happened here. Mount Compass have some big losses from last year and are not as good a side with guys like Burdett, Webb and Crate gone and they still managed to smash McLaren.

I thought McLaren were supposed to be better this year with recruits, early season form does not suggest that.

Why should I, and or the club I support, feel guilty about attracting the best talent possible in order to give it the best chance of success?

And why does the fact that a club has 'paid' players some how take away from that success?

It's part of footy and has been forever, there's nothing illegal about it and it in fact makes the game and the GSFL stronger. I for one am very happy to see Yank be positive and pro-active in ensuring their future, I hope they do give it a serious crack this year.

I posted that pic to have a stir, but in all seriousness maybe some other clubs should stop sooking and actually do some hard yards in the off season themselves. Their club and the GSFL would be better for it.

What a great reward for the guys at Yank who have played through years of spankings and are now getting rewarded for sticking it out. I don't see any deserving A grade players missing out on a spot so good luck to the Tigers. I hope the $$$ brings a winning culture to the club.

Definately Richard I think there is no doubting that even after only 2 rounds. After playing Creek on the weekend I would put Yank on level terms if not slightly higher.

Good ol Ironbank made Craig Smith an offer he couldn't refuse, days before the first game.
Looks like they are at it again.
Why wouldn't you do your recruiting in the pre season?

Relegation is IN this year and i am told they are crapping themselves that they will be dropped. Current results suggest they have good reason to be worried.

You sound a little bitter 'ol man emu' why wouldn't you recruit right up til the June 30th cut off date as the competition allows. I understand the bulk of recruiting should be done pre season but if a club is in a position to get players you get them. Ironbank signed Mark Bradley last year in Round 4... he went on to win the Mail Medal.

Also note Mark Bradley left 2 weeks before season started (due to enormous $$$ offered elsewhere), so Ironbank have had to start recruiting again. Craig Smith is a former player at Ironbank too. Not ideal this late, but no choice really.
