Is he your lad Rucciangelo?

You seem to be defending him vigorously, for what really is a minor matter.

Is it OK to mention that 8 * 6 + 12 = 60?

As for the scoreboard here is a photo from last week, there were some errors, but never really mattered. Could be an issue if wrong in the last 1/4 when close though. Id be surprised if he was a volunteer as PhilH said even at Amateur level they get paid.

Unfair photo, the wind was causing the coreflute to fly away.
This was his first week at the job.
Tell me any of you who were any good on your first day at your first job?

Oh... and I'm always right??? Hmmmmm???

Rucci = fickle

Quite obviously you are often wrong LEH.

Fickle? Now, that's a big word for you!

Now explain to me precisely how Rucci is "fickle", as you say...

Seriously... is this website going down the toilet? This isn't the first week where a game review thread has talked about something other than the actual game. Who gives a toss about the scoreboard. Honestly...

Since no one is that interested in the game, I'll keep my comments short and sweet.

Eagles. Direct. Confident. Impressive.

Sturt. Rubbish. Again.

That looks to me like a number card with 9 on one side and 0 on the other that has tipped out of the mounting (meaning it is an upside down 9, not a 6). Can't believe the lad wasn't shot at the end of the game.

My younger brother had the scores incorrect after a junior grand final once, by two points. It indicated a 1 point win to the losing side. Dad had to drive around to the scoreboard to collect him before everyone realised! It can have an impact and at SANFL level it should be right. But this photo proves nothing to me.

Fortunately I will be going to Noarlunga tomorrow, where I won't know whether the scoreboard is right or wrong.

That's where Norwood got the idea from?

Actually, I would like to bring up another point. Yes it's totally academic, and no it means nothing to the outcome of the game, but it relates to a free kick paid to Evans. McGlone kicks the ball out towards the scoreboard wing, I think looking for Evans, but his kick is a bit off target. It almost went out on the full, but strikes an Eagles trainer. That's what the free is paid for.

The rule book states:
15.10.1 A Free Kick shall be awarded against a Player or a Team where
the field Umpire is of the opinion that:
(a) the Player is engaging in Time Wasting;
(b) an Official of the Team or such other person of the Team
who may from time to time be permitted onto the Playing
Surface, intentionally, recklessly or negligently interferes
with the football, a Player of the opposition Team, an
Umpire or general play

I've never seen a free paid in this manner before. The trainer turned his back and tried to get out of the way when he saw the ball coming. It appeared to be heading out on the full anyway (about 1m from the boundary where it happened). How is that at odds with the above rule?

Tough game to listen to, the prospect of breaking our opponents never eventuated. That third quarter seemed to be the one where they won it IMO. They got out to a 2 goal break, and every time we scored a goal they answered it pretty well with one of their own. Then they started kicking away. A bit hard to tell over the radio but I had the impression that they had weathered our best counter and then simply brushed us aside. Pretty damn humbling and I can't find much else to do but shake my head and acknowledge what was a class act.

Over the radio they called out Chambo on the lead a few times and the midfielders ignored him. It came off once but a few times the resulting shots went wide. The radio theorized that perhaps the Blues were trying not to be so "Chambo conscious" as he is so near the Sturt goal kicking record, and they perhaps wouldn't want that influencing their forward 50 entries and manufacturing goals for him when they'd be better off having a shot themselves.

It'd be interesting to hear comments from people that were actually there or saw it on TV.

Where to now for the Eagles? 3 zip and the new buzz side of the SANFL after Westies held the title in round one, Glenelg in round 2, and Sturt in round 3. The opinions on this thread and on the radio today seems to indicate that the Eagles were as impressive as the scoreline suggests, stood up when the pressure was on, and won convincingly in a high scoring game.

I am not throwing in the towel yet, in recent seasons many have lavished praise on Sturt for their early to mid-season demolition jobs of quality opponents, but the shadow of the Eagle seems to have suddenly loomed over the SANFL. How they travel in the coming weeks will be of big interest.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

I think the word "negligent" pretty well covers it Spelly. IMO if the ball was already bounced out of bounds then it would be okay for the trainer to come in to contact with the ball, but while the ball is in play and live then it shouldn't matter what may have happened had the trainer not been there. I imagine if two Eagles players attempted to pass the ball one to another and their trainer got in the way and touched the ball then this would also be negligent interference of the ball, regardless of how beneficial his interference may or may not have been to either side, and a free would be paid to the opposing side.

That was the best I have seen the Eagles play in a long, long time. A total team effort, and we seemed to get better the longer the game went. The last quarter was brilliant. Congratulations to Adam Grocke on an excellent 100th game.

Was very impressed with Joffa Giles game for the Double Blues whufc...

The former Doggies premiership player was probably the best big man on the ground and finished the game with about 17 disposals, 2 goals and around 30 hitouts.

As impressive as he was, the Eagles played a magnificent all round team game and as I mentioned earlier, up until the last term where the Eagles ran away, this one of the most entertaining games of football I've seen all year...

We still have a long way to go in terms of the rest of the season to be played out, but I think I am already regretting my decision on the Eagles being the side to drop out from the finals for this year from sides that participated in the major round last seaon...

Certainly porves that a final 5 position will be hotly contested for and we should certainly continue to have another great season of SANFL footy.

As was mentioned on the eagles forum by spelly (I think)
Grocke 100th league game
Plus 100 goals for the WWTFC after yesterdays game.
And that 100th goal was called goal of the day :D

Not bad for a bloke who was struggling to get a game under Jarman at North.well done Adam.
