Fleurieu Peninsula restaurant

Postby AFLflyer » Tue Apr 13, 2010 12:07 pm

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a nice restaurant on the Fleurieu Peninsula, preferably Mclaren Vale, but south coast Victor area also would be ok.... Are there any other good restaurants joined with wineries in the Vale?? I just tried D'arrys Veranda and they are all booked out. Its for a Sunday lunch. Nice setting, nice food is they key.

Any help would be good - cheers.

The Current Shed at Hoffmans Winery, McLaren Flat is the best restaurant in SA at the moment IMHO.

Nice spot, i agree, but over-rated as far as food goes. Better off going to the Victory Hotel - better food, and better price !

D'Arry's Veranda at D'Arenberg winery is a stunning spot.

Love the food there, and if you eat outside you can try to feed the amazing jumping chickens!

Give us a report after, I would like to know how they are going now as I gave a recommendation a year ago and relatives took International Government representatives there and thought the food and service stank. The rels had been with us on a previous occasion when it was a lot better so they understood. Said the 5 half star on KI was pretty good.

Alaska,
Penny hill ended up a really good lunch. We had the 5 courses matched with 5 different wines. The first coarse we were worried, it was VERY small matched with a tiny wine tasting, the size you would get at a cellar door! The wine tastings and food become much more generous as the meal went on though, a wine or two ordered on the side helped! Good tasty feed, nice way to spend a couple hours.. The ox tail and the scallop and jelly fish risotto the highlights.
