They aren't exactly "life bans". In the SAAFL, if you get reported enough times to be suspended for 12 matches within a 3 year period, the SAAFL will de-register you and you will not be allowed to play in the SAAFL again unless you apply and become successful.
These players didn't do a "single" act that warranted a life time ban.

So basically they are just genuine thugs who continually do things to get suspended as opposed to possibly doing one stupid thing in an otherwise clean career.

It is a concern that these guys are allowed to play. I wonder what will happen when they hit someone behind the play or break a jaw or an eye socket ,some teams have young kids playing and there is a duty of care for clubs. I would imagine when it happens it will create a large can of worms for the club and the league. It cant be good for the comp to have these guys running around.

So they are deregistered with saafl who are not affiliated with sanfl ?? Be interesting to speak to YP League ask why they were not allowed to play in that comp this year.

Bit over dramatic. These guys did not get there bans for behind the play incidents, just over the years picked up suspensions for mostly silly incidents

Not sure where your info is from Benchmark but the SAAFL are certainly affiliated with the SANFL and have been for several years.

Find a rule or bylaw in any league that stipulates anything about that comment. You won't so it becomes a club's choice if they register them or not.

I think you need to take a pill and have a good lie down. Judge teams and players on what actually happens each week not on some wierdly biased view based on supposition. In which games last saturday did all the jaw breaking and socket crunching take place?
We all love "country" footy and the way its played compared to the SAAFL (which is why they need the 12 game rule and Hills doesnt). No Hills club is ever going to encourage or condone violence on the field. In fact many of the "thugs and ferrals" that seem to have you throwing your skirt over your head about have come up to the hills to get away from the undue aggression of city footy. Yes they are hard nuts and they will retaliate if pushed too far but its not what they want. If they do do something wrong and if based on facts they do desrve it throw the book at them taking in to account their past history. But until then trust the clubs to make the right decisions about the players they play

I noticed Eugene Wanganeen has been cleared to Callington, if fit he'd be a handy key position player. Has played for a number of clubs in the RMFL, and more recently Karoonda.

last weeks game

Postby the breezer » Wed Apr 14, 2010 11:29 pm

one spectator was quoted saying at the Meadows v Gumeracha game Sat, "there is two teams out there and i only one of them is playing footy"

i only pulled up for the last half, Gumeracha seemed a little big and slow lucky to get the points, although i missed the first half.
