Fairly certain that West Adelaide are under the City of West Torrens whilst Woodville West Torrens are with City of Charles Sturt, so its a good chance both councils have completely different policies in relation to SANFL football. The specific local area around Richmond Oval is getting no shortage of coin put into it towards development and its fairly obvious that the council see Richmond oval as being a central feature of it, especially if it does occur that West build a venue on the South rd side of the ground.

I think you will find that council undertook a rationalization of all oval and Richmond is used full time by a club where Thebarton only a couple of times a year (SANFL level) - believe is now home ground for umpires and the current major tenant is the South Australian Amateur Football League (SAAFL), who use the venue as an administrative and training base, as well as a venue for some matches during the season.

I was actually asking why EHL thought it was ludicrous.

When you see that Richmond is used more, attracting more people over the year, it makes perfect sense that Richmond was higher priority.

From my understanding it wasn't really the council (West Torrens) giving priority to either.

They had approved both council grants to both grounds mid to late last year.

Westies had their balance of grants finalised and went ahead

SAAFL had their state govt grant application knocked back, this meant they were short and could not do an upgrade for 2010.

In January, according to Messenger Press the Richmond project costings blew out. West Torrens Council (now co-incidently with some spare grant money from the Thebarton project which was not going ahead) voted for an increased allocation a lot of which ($285K from memory) was to be a 10 year interest free loan Westies are to pay back.

You guys need to get over Thebarton, it was clearly not up to SANFL standard last year.

You got that right!

Most of us Eagle fans do agree stay at Fortress Woodville ;)
Its the SANFL that wants us there and my mail is we then charge the SANFL a fee for playing there. To compensate having to take everything with us.Hell even with that sham of a 6 quarter game we took a BBQ and Drinks.
