Rd 4- Glenelg vs Central @ Glenelg (Sun 18/4)

Postby whufc » Mon Apr 12, 2010 12:28 pm

Fairly big game for both teams here with the winner having a mini break on the league and the loser is right back in the mix with tricky games to come for both sides in the following weeks.

Glenelg are coming off a bad loss to the double blues but were playing pretty well beforehand with comfortable victories over Norwood and West. You would expect Mickan would have the boys pretty pumped for this one.

The Dogs have had two fairly comfortable victories to open there season despite having lots of injuries and not playing to their best. This game will test a few of the younger Dogs and will give Roy a better indication on where his team and certain players sit at the moment.

Interestingly Centrals away record last season was pretty ordinary recalling losses at the Bay, Norwood, Richmond, Unley and North? Turning this around is definatly a goal Roy has had mind for this squad.

Personally i think the Bays will want to put last weeks poor performance behind them and playing Sturt in such a high intensity match will hold them in good sted against the Dogs this week. Add to this Centrals poor away record last season and the Bays look the goods to me in a close one by 9 points.

Was actually a draw at the Bay.

Agree that being the home team might mitigate in favour of the Bays. Fingers crossed.

After being in a dominant position that should hav seen the Dogs win that game, I know the club considered it as a loss...

After McConnell kicked the goal on the siren to tie the scores, some of the Bays fans celebrated like it was a win ;)

This should be a great contest on Sunday at Glenelg, looking forward to seeing Cranston and Buckets go head to head and the Doggies defence will have to be on it's A game to stop Kirby and Grima x 2. I would expect Central to bring in a Hardy or Lawry as that extra tall defender and hopefully Chris Gowans comes up for what will be his 200th game.

We drew at the bay, won twice at Prospect, and was 1-1 at Norwood. Also, bar the Unley debacle (which the GF more than made up for), our biggest loss was 17 points at Woodville (a ground we have struggled at in recent years).

You can never under-estimate the Glenelg Football Club.

You can never Under-estimate the Mikan Factor.

The Bays must be happy with his input.

Bays by 7 points.

agreed, however i believe this group will bounce back, whether that's good enough to win or not is another thing but given glenelgs recent history at glenelg we should get over the line, or will it be another draw ?
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Yeah agree, i think there is to many guys playing for their spot in the Dogs team at the moment for them not to be switched on and busting a gut BUT Glenelg's overall class and ability plus close to a near full strength side on there home deck be will be enough for them to get over the line.

on that historical data you would have to think centrals should easily win this.
