Sounds like you agree with me. And yes, the plan didn't work as they hoped... but IMO was worth a try. And what has it cost ???

It has cost a year to develop a younger player.

..where he was selected, the odds of a junior succeeding at that end of the draft would be very poor.

Johnson and Skipworth both younger and both would have had more impact at their clubs than Carr has.

Would have made more sense to waste 2 years on a kid that might make it than get 2 years service out of a player whose best years are obviously behind him and then have to start blooding the kid.

Where's he at now? ... has played 3 trial games for the Bays and to be honest, hasn't set the world on fire.

Will he play for the Power at all this year?

I cant see him playing in the Power side much at all. Cassisi, K.Cornes and Thomas would be the preferred 'stoppers' in the club and Carr wil make about $200k for playing with the Bays this year....

Power listed players get paid by the Power

That's why it's so good for the Bays - Meyer, Logan and Carr won't be worrying our salary cap :)

I think you may find some of it is taken into consideration. There was an article with that information in it in The Advertiser a few weeks ago.

He is very clever though, has the 'footy smarts'. Even if he can be used at training to pass them on to some of the younger players...he will more than have done his job.

The coaching staff, the board AND Josh would have known they weren't getting back what they had a few years ago. Carr's expectations and the club's expectations would have been considerably lower, and payment made accordingly.

BUT, you can also rest assured, there would be something in his contract about mentoring and tutoring the young players. There he will be invaluable, & at the moment the coaching staff have enough young players to spend time with - so I reckon use his brain & knowledge for the rest of the season, even if he doesn't play one game. It will help produce some other 'smart' footballers in the future.

I don't think he'll play for the power this year and then will retire at the end of the year. It's sad to say, but i think hes past it

Yep, all over for Carr. He is far from setting the world alight in the SANFL and is miles away from an AFL berth. All he can hope for is to be given a farewell game at Footy Park at some stage, but I doubt it.

Got a fair few possesions against the Dogs today BUT all were playing by sitting at the back of the pack and recieving h/balls. Not to many possesions were damaging either. This will not get him back in the AFL.

He is caught between playing his role to suit Glenelg and a role which will get him back in the Power.

Why did Williams keep at late 20 year old player on the list if he never has plans to use him.

Interesting article in the paper about Carr today with him saying he not finished yet for the power and he really wants to play in the showdown and have one last crack at the crows.
