For certain Glenelg posters to question the courage of John Hinge is laughable and a nailed on classic case of sour grapes. You can bleat all you like about how he 'isn't in our best 21' etc but the fact is when he is up and running he is a class player. I saw it as an opposition supporter a number of times when he took Sturt to the cleaners.

All this talk about him being head hunted on Saturday is crap too to be honest. If I was a Bay supporter I would be hoping my players are going to target every Sturt player with the footy on Saturday, I know as a Sturt supporter that is what I am hoping for, a fierce attack on ball and body from the first bounce until the final siren.

It should be a great contest. Sturt have started slowly but there were signs at Prospect that their best footy isn't too far away. We'ver had more of the footy than our two opponents thus far, converting chances and being more efficient with the pill is the key.

Go the Blues.

May sound like an overstatement but Sturts season could be on the line already in round 3.

If they lose to the Bays they will be on 1 point after 3 games with the Eagles(h) and Centrals(a) to follow. It would be pretty hard from there to press for a top 3 spot especially with teams like North, West and Eagles looking like there on the improve.

Once again i don't think the premiership can be one from outside the top 3.

Massive game for Sturt this one at home, they win and they pretty much back on track they lose and the pressure mounts.

Really looking forward to this game.

There were glimpses of Sturt getting their act together against the Roosters and when you stop and think about it, we've played some very ordinary football for the past two weeks and have drawn with South and 'only' been beaten by 8 points against a much hyped North side which many expect to finish top three.

There's no doubting that Glenelg must go in strong favourites based on form over the past two weeks, but I think Sturt will ensure a hard fought battle rather than the somewhat disinterested performances they've put in to date.

Hinge has been one of our better performers and I expect that he'll step up this week. Expect a few melées!

Bring it on! :D

PS. Chambo to kick 6. (Rudolph's magic powers were all in his hair which is now non existent).

PPS. Yes, I know this will come back to bite me... ;)

First bolded statement is way over the top.

Second bolded statement is a much fairer assessment.

It is a bit over of the top but if they lose this week they will be looking at having to win 12 games from 17 with Central and Glenelg to play 4 more times and with an improved west, north and eagles this maybe a bit to much to ask.

If the 'dread-less' Sammy Rudolph doesn't work then there is always Wayde Mills, who also had the 'powers' on Chambo last year ;)

Apply pressure to the bays and they will fall over. Norwood couldn't :( , and obviously West couldnt either.
They will resort to their ducking and diving hoping for frees and as long as the umpires dont fall for it, they can be beaten.

One would think there is a law about ducking to get out of tackles?

Thats correct. There is no law in regards to staging for frees.

The funny part from my point of view and talking to a couple of Central league players was that they had never played against a side that had so many players who were regulary ducked their head and staged for free kicks.

I know the Central heirarcy thought of this as a sign Glenelg were struglling under the pressure and lacking confidence in their own ability, looking for the easy option of a free kick rather than taking the player on or attempting the mark.

While Glenelg did score a couple of goals from free kicks the Central players grew in confidence knowing the Glenelg players mindset was slightly frailed.

Yeah a few times. Usually a player tries to either shrug the tackle, or turn and face away from the tackler and give to a team mate.
At least you are admitting that your players duck, but to suggest that each time they are merely avoiding a tackle is beyond comprehension. :?

What gets me also is that supporters of other clubs see it but bays fans can't.

Looks like your players have been influential to you. "Ducking" under the issue.

As you still havent noticed, glenelg's ducking and diving was evident in Round 1 2010, when Norwood on the very few occiasions applied pressure. Going back to my original point, if Sturt apply pressure then the bays will fall over and resort to staging. No mention of 2009. Just stating my opinion on how to beat glenelg.

Glenelg beat Glenelg in the finals series, have a look at the stats. dominated possession and inside 50's - just couldnt kick straight.

Who's obsessed with 2009 again?

My original comment is based on this year, but seeing as you had to bring it up. Stats schmats. It was the pressure applied by Central and Sturt that beat glenelg. They knew how to beat you and they did it. glenelg were not the best team in the finals series and the scoreboard (the only stat that counts) proved that. I wouldnt use the word 'choke' more like losing because glenelg coudnt handle the pressure.
