Rd 3 Eagles v Norwood @ Woodville (Sat 10/4)

Postby Big Phil » Mon Apr 05, 2010 2:20 pm

The Redlegs will be keen to atone for the 2nd half fadeout against South last week while the Eagles will be keen to put 4 quarters together under new coach Mick Godden...

Norwood have a few issues with injury so their youngsters are going to have to step up, while it will be interesting to see whether Nathan Bassett coaches this game or not ?

On paper, you'd suggest the Eagles should win comfortably but I'd expect Norwood to put up a good showing. Scott Welsh will be a handy 'in' for the Eagles as well...

Eagles by 25 points...

norwood seem to beat wwt during day games when not expected to win, however with doyle out & already down on confidence i think wwt will win by a lazy 4 or 5 goals
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Godden mentioned that if the Eagles Port game was played on Sunday (yesterday) instead of the Saturday, Welsh would have played for sure. So barring a mishap during the week, Scott will line up with the Eagles for this game.

Do you mean he might play?

Hopefully McKenzie is in the side; he would replace Knights, and Welsh for Salter, but I hope Salter is not promoted though. ;)

No, more reffering to Bassett getting reported for abusing an umpire at 3/4 time against South at the Parade last Thursday night...

He has a date with the tribunal tomorrow night and will no doubt only receive a reprimand or fine, but got me thinking what would happen if he got suspended for a game !!?

Probably would not be allowed to enter the playing arena, I would say.

Aurelio Vidmar would be coaching us (he can't coach in the Asian Champions League atm so is free to help out) while Bass sat in the stand with Budda Hocking and Darren Trevena, (our other Assistant Coaches).

What about John Kosmina instead? ... he'd love the irony.

No offence but it wouldn't make much difference if Humphrey B Bear was in the box at the moment.

Norwood have 'caught us out' in the past couple of years recording wins at Thebarton and Woodville. Given the current state of affairs at Norwood though, I'd be very disappointed if we lost this one.
We'll be a lot better for the run last Saturday and I expect cleaner skills on display.

expect the Eagles to win, but it should not be a concern for Bassett who will always have injuries, young list, umpires etc to fall back on as a legitimate excuse as to why his side will be on the bottom of the ladder.

Round 2, yes Round 2, and suddenly the likes of Sojourner, Saintal and Southee are finding there are supporters of South that they didn't know existed. Nor did the rest of us.

Who would be the likely "fill in" Redlegs coach if Bassett was suspended?
