Didn't look good for the crows today, totally outplayed again. Far too easy for the Swans. The only positive was Dangerfields 5 goal performance.

borrowed a mates season ticket and went to my 4th AFL game today.....what a waste of petrol. Crows were, in a word, pathetic. Outplayed, outrun, outbodied and out coached. Looked slow and disinterested. Interesting to see them live though, and watch the way their zone crumbles under pressure and pace. McGlynn must have the worst BO in the AFL noone wanted to go within 30 metres of him. And the crowd....thought I was at sunday mass most of the time!! Give me the SANFL anytime Dont think I will bother again. The only plus was I didn't waste my hard-earned on the ticket!!

First, Patrick Dangerfield you star. 5 brilliant goals and a shining light on a dark day.

My gosh we are terrible - really terrible. Again, majority of goals from direct turnovers (Will Young the worst culprit). It was 1 step forward, 4 steps back. A complete lack of competitiveness and it is not good enough.

Now for Will Young - IMO one of the worst players I have ever seen play for the Crows. He was pathetic. Just about every time he touched the ball he turned it over. Should be sent straight to the SANFL reserves next week.

Thats a harsh comment. Was given the wrong match ups in my opinion. As for his disposal - it can only get better.

Obviously never seen Tom Gilligan, Ian Downsborough or David Gallagher play.

Had to try something. Our defence was a shambles all day. Wrong match ups in just about every position.

Way too harsh on Young. A match-up with McGlynn to most, if not everyone, at AAMI stadium was a bad one except for the most important man, Neil Craig. He should've been up against a tall, their resting ruckman or White. 10 possessions showed he tried to be attacking and provide some run, just looked a bit caught out by the pace of the game and the Swans constant pressure. He's 19, on debut, he's a raw 5th round draft pick who will improve. Settle down on such stupid calls.

Dangerfield best, Mackay 2nd, Petrenko 3rd.

Douglas is useless, as is Hentschel (sorry, but he's done) and Sellar was playing well until injured.

Agree with everthing you have written.

Also Burton has to go. Him and Walker just can't be in the same side together.

Burton is done, I agree. He'll improve (obviously) and will kick a few goals this year but regardless, 2010 must be his last.

As for Walker, perhaps the most disappointingfaspect of today's complete and utter nightmare was Walker. Sounds harsh, but after last week being so impressive I really wanted to see him back it up today and he gave us nothing. Went from looking a millio bucks one week to a really ordinary player the next. The gap between his best and worst is FAR too big.

After 1 game, people really don't hold back do they?

Not everyone can be like Barlow on debut. Adeliade debutants always look out of their depth on debut (I am serious).

Or Richard Douglas! ;) I think I might've mentioned this last year but does anyone remember that article Chris McDermott did for the Tiser breathlessly predicting Douglas was going to be both a 300 game player for the Crows and a future captain of the club? I could only handle watching about 30 minutes of that game today because I knew they were going to lose and in that time Douglas looked as bad as ever.

Here's my annual Crows rant:

This just in, we suck. Seriously I barely bother with the Crows anymore, I'm still trying to get over the wasted years of '05 & '06 when we finished 1st & 2nd yet didn't even make a GF. The last three years IMO have been a joke. A club more concerned with making as much money as possible by not bottoming out and rebuilding (thus possibly losing the interest of the fans) and content over these last 3-4 years to try and sell to the public that they're always some sort of left-field contender despite the fact we've just been making up the numbers. Eight teams have to play in the Finals every year, AFL policy.

Neil Craig has been found wanting as an AFL coach IMO. He overcoaches the team something shocking and when the need arises is notoriously way too slow to react. I remember that final a few years ago against Hawthorn like it was yesterday. He seems to treat the players like they're robots, punishing them on the track all off-season (any wonder we've always got a million injuries) in the misguided belief that the fittest team will always come up on top even though we never do. Excluding say the second half of last season the players are always defensive, jilted, slow to react, have poor awareness and always seem content with "we'll just have to work harder on the track next season". I know it's not just us but I'm sick of us getting the ball and routinely having no one to kick to in the forward line.

I don't care for footy as much as I used to so maybe I just don't watch enough of it or something but I've never thought too much of Neil Craig. Ideally I'd like to see a new coach take over at some stage this season but think he's really just the guy on the frontline and that it's more the mindset of the club that Craig reflects.

I agree 100% Gozu and any supporter that doesnt is living in fantasy land.

replace Craig ASAP, do not wait until the mid season break or end of season. Lets do it now.

I think blaming specific players is pointless - all those named above did some good and some bad.
Certain "name" players were clearly not fit and should never have been picked to play until they were.
Basically, the Crows as a team looked slow, and were second to the ball all day as they were last week.
I suspect those who have said they are over trained, and therefore all tending to carry small injuries, may have a point.
The extreme fitness approach worked a few years ago, before all the other teams woke up and upped their fitness too, but it is no longer enough.
You can only push bodies so far to try to maintain that edge..

I agree Burton looks to be "gone", and it looks like Hentschell may be too.
I've never been a big fan of Burton, as apart from his "speccies" up forward, he has always been a bit of a turnover generator with erratic disposal.
The Power, and Freo, are playing a better style of game than the Crows this year, and have developed or acquired the right players for it.

Dunno about that NFC- I saw McLeods debut game, & remember the goal he kicked from the boundary line.
