Still a monumental kick-in-the-balls.

Anyone interested in boxing might like to look out for this one. I assume it's going to be in cinema's or on dvd cos it was on Film 24 review show and they don't do tv shows. They raved about it and gave it an excellent review.

Just watched "Not Quite Hollywood", the documentary that screened on SBS on Saturday night.

Basically a look back at the "Ozploitation" and genre films made in Australia in the 70s and 80s.
Nudity and action scenes galore!

Some great anecdotes (like Dennis Hopper on the set of "Mad Dog Morgan") and sequences from films I'd never heard of.
Even a few words from bores like Philip Adams and Bob Ellis.

Recommended if the topic interests you.

Not Quite Hollywood

Funny little doco.

How it got made is quite interesting, too.

Director Mark Hartley couldn't get any interest from the funding bodies. So he sent a package to Quentin Tarantino, who personally vouched for the project. Only then did it get funding.

Sad indictment on the local film industry that it won't even preserve its own history.

As an aside, Tarantino dedicated the Sydney premiere of Kill Bill Vol. 2 to 'Ozploitation' director Brian Trenchard-Smith.

The luvvies in the crowd had no idea who he was talking about.

Too busy planning their next snoozefest that costs $5m and nobody sees...
