Rd 2 Sturt vs North Review thread

North got up by 8 points. On the radio, it was an undisciplined game by both teams but north were just more hungry, alleway best on ground by far. Sturt missed plenty of chances and at one stage were 4.9. North controlled the game all day but for about 2 patches and deserved the hard fought win.

dissapointed sturt, i dont think norman has the right mix and johncock needs to come in...too many talls i reckon, jj plays smaller so that should help...luke has lots to think about...sheedy, crane, mcglone, hinge and hassan best for sturt, chambo kicked 3.

too many silly frees sturt gave away and north were just too slick and moved it better for more parts of the game...the amount of times they got it from defensive 50 to the goal mouth was unbelievable.

thank god its only round 2, but signs of panic may creep it at sturt...with a few new faces and the loss of coad, norman would want to find the right mix early on as its going to tough come later rounds to get that double chance...so early wins are crucial.

with the bays coming off 2 great wins, next week is going to be...well, ******* scary

You're wrong about the discipline of both sides, it was fine. It's the ******* terrible umpiring that has ruined the SANFL and ruined this game. Things have gone full circle folks, if you want watch a game of football that isn't overumpired you should watch the AFL now.

Shockers for both teams but IMHO North got the slightly better deal.

the comm team sounded bewildered at times but after the play free and tripping etc cost sturt, it was sturts undisciplined playh that allowed north at least 5-6 goals...north just finished better and were first at it more than sturt....it ended in an 8 pt win... i was never confident and i think its going to take a few games for the new blokes to gel and norman to figure out what to do with his talls.

Agree Wedgie, how many times did they pull the game up FFS lets have some flowing footy out there, most times frees given for nothing at all. We want to see some decent footy out there, not hearing whistles every 30 seconds. Umps definately the worst performed out on the ground today

Good win by north. I suspect the league is being used as an AFL umpiring training ground. Never seen so many 25m penalties.

they blew the whistle on every thing even remotely resembling a free. it really gives me the shits. if ya brush a shoulder they cant help themselves.perhaps we should get ex players umpiring the game=paul rifle in cricket? and no umpiring did not influence the result, it was crap for both.

Thought I read in the paper a couple of weeks ago there was going to be a concerted effort to umpire more like the AFL style, including a few of the rule changes and interpretations over the last few years.
Anyway, back to the game.....

Ok. I will say it. The umpiring is a disgrace. If that is what league officials think is "the standard" then get ready for a frustrating year. Luckily, the better team on the day "usually" wins.
