Credit to Warren for not retaliating as I'm sure many players would have just belted Stopp.

if dugga could kick straight stopp would have had 12 kicked against him in 2 weeks, he did all the niggling stuff but that doesn't get you the ball

i'm sure ben may've said something to him though ;)

Did Warren have a big night out or something?

Bassett has a date at the tribunal on Tues night following a query raised with the umpires at 3/4 time about the holding the ball rule.

Apparently Rodan fitted in well with his team mates on the night but who was the mystery man talking to him from the grandstand when he was off on rotation, and asking Nick Lower to get him off the ground towards the end of the first quarter? 70% game time was apparently the deal, but a second voice from the grandstand? Also, Budda Hocking was giving instructions to him after the huddles broke. Seems odd to me to have Pahhr staff doing their own coaching and issuing their own instructions on rotations from the grandstand.

Plenty of feeling at South this year - lots of times their players resting on the bench were calling out match ups and encouragement from the sidelines and when the final siren went, there was a heck of a celebration from the South coaching box. South also huddled in the centre of the ground for a good five minutes after the final siren.

Oh, and the lights were great - a clear white light consistent around the ground, rather than a foggy yellow light.

Chocco was "chatting" with Logan, Carr and Meyer at the Bay huddle last weekend, so maybe there is an "understanding" between the SANFL Coaches who have Power players in their team?

Carr, Pearce, Surjan and another Pahrr player were all the ground tonight. Must admit I've seen Carr at heaps of SANFL games before.

Chatting at the breaks is one thing - calling rotations from the grandstand for one player is a quantum leap in my book. I mean, he literally called to Ned Lower who was walking the boundary line said "Lowie, get D-Rod off now". That was at the 24 minute mark of the first quarter and he had already been off from the 8-12 minute marks that I saw. 70% game time for a match - or 70% game time in each of 4 quarters? Who knows, but there was no doubt the Pahhr were more than just monitoring his playmaking - they were calling his rotations too when they thought it was warranted.

I moved seats after 1/4 time but given Doyle was gone by then and then Roberts was gone by half time, we had 19 men all up so only one rotation. When a guy is playing "70%" match time and you lose 2 players to injury by half time, one wonders how much rotations were further compounded by D-Rod's man in the stand in the second half. He did rest a few times up forward though in the second half.

Captain of the WINNING team, his 1st win as captain so reguardless of what else he did, YES, i would say he did have a big night out. :D

p.s. South are also UNdefeated with Warren at the helm.

Great effort by South to make 2 comebacks in the 2nd 1/2.
After dominating the 1st 10 - 15 mins of the 3rd term to draw level from a 27 pt 1/2 time defecit, Norwood slammed on 3 goals in 5 mins BUT South stood firm and showed great courage and determination to come again to be within 1 goal at 3/4 time. A titanic battle in the last term saw the Panthers prevail, keeping the Hapless Norwood goaless which probably explained their supporters not giving a yelp when their players needed it the most. Well done to South and their supporters on claiming a memorable win.

Most of that's correct Jim and congrats on your win, but I'll let you judge your form on waiting for a good win before coming on to condemn opposition supporters.

Ben Warren imho is a great player and I'd more than happily have him at my club, but he was beaten tonight.

Should also add that McKenna took a screamer of a pack mark at the top of the goalsquare tonight from about 3 deep, and got a nice ride up, through and down again. Would like to see it again - hopefully it shows up on YouTube or somewhere similar.

It's a long season, and time will tell, but based on the result last night and watching the way they played against Sturt last week, you can already see Fuller's influence. The South players are having a red hot crack and they're playing fairly simple direct, low possession footy which was a trademark at the Eagles when things were going well. Their recruits also seem to be having a positive impact straight away. South supporters have reason to be optimistic!

A weird feeling..losing to South but content walking away knowing:

- The ball movement at least in intent was more precise
- When the confidence imporves JD will ran in a straight line and nail that goal
- The coach has the players...Bass went straight out to the players after the game and commended them for his effort..Speaking to a couple of reserves players Bass is the best coach they have ever had..sure he is not up against much but all good
- The coach found some Pants
- How awesome are the lights...although they block vision in certain spots and make the back of coopers Hill pretty bloody dark

Great to see South warm down after the game under the grandstand

I think the true test for South to see where they are at will be games against Central, Glenelg and Eagles. Any top 5 side from last year really. ;)

i was at the other end of the ground & was side on to the play but can someone tell me who the player(s) were that smothered norwoods kicks into attack late in the game, these two efforts won the game for south when the game was well & truly in the balance

not sure, I was at the other end of the ground.
It was in the dying moments of the game. It seemed as though there were 3 kicks by Norwood players in their forward line that were smothered all within about 15 seconds.

Andrew Horne was the HERO who saved the day for South, copped a couple of them in the face as well apparently.

well done to andrew horne then, & while it doesn't go down as a stat it should because as we know those things can (& it did last night) win you games, obviously andrew literally listened to all his coaches over the years as he did keep his eye on the ball (literally :D )
