Communism Football Board

Postby Clever Dick » Fri Feb 12, 2010 10:54 pm

Seems as if the Community Football Board's rule over it's subjects is gathering momentum. I hope your clubs like mine is going to take a stand and resist what looks like an attempt for an eventual takeover of the SAAFL and every other league in the state. I can't see it working in the long term but what is a worry is what damage will be done in the short term.

The big concern is what was raised at the meeting at thebarton a fortnight ago in that there will be levies per senior player and junior player on top of club subs like they do in the Victorian Community Football League just so they can fund their administration costs. :evil:

Where will it end?

He'll need to take a pay cut if all the decisions are going to made by the Community Football League. It's a big salary for a clerk of the CFL!

Quite a few "hidden issues" in this that will eventually come out. Problem is, will the damage have been done?

Talk to some of the country folk, they have real worries it will impact on "local sponsors and supplier choice""

This is exactly what is happening with information that is coming from the CFB. "Confusion & fear" are two words that come to mind, I can probably find others but will wait on that.

See below for a classic example of the 'confusion' that is being caused by the information coming out of the CFB. I received this email from a Northern country club that I've been supplying with footy gear for many moons, in response to a series of emails regarding supplying his club with new footy jumpers.

He writes;

"As you would be aware, we are being forced by the CFB to go to only their suppliers, as we have to have the CFB logo on all gear by 2012. It is something we are not at all happy about, but what can we do?!"

The "fear factor" at it's very best!

The other interesting point that has come to light in this saga is, "is the CFB logo registered? If as I am told it isn't, anyone can reproduce it as it's not covered by any law.

Can anyone shed any light on this anomaly?

IDM Sports on their website have prices for footy jumpers, it has me quite confused;

SAAFL club price $48.75 + GST
Any other club price $42.00 + GST

I wonder why there is such a discrepancy in the 2 prices or more the point, is it any wonder he doesn't sell many to SAAFL clubs and Cougar surrendered their SAAFL licence?

Are alll clubs paying a fortune more in payments to the clothing guys because of this rule. Why not just have an open market. Does anyone have any idea why this rule is around. Is it someone lining someones pockets or sponsorship or what?. Not privy to knowing why but it seems absurd to make clubs use this as a way of having to purchase something that is dearer to the club. Clubs like everyone are doing it tough out here so why should thay pay around $7 a jumper more. Could well be paying $800 to a $1000 a year more having home and away jumpers and 3 grades plus u18's. Does this include socks and shorts and everything or not. If so someone is making some good money and it is not the clubs.

One CFL supplier is about to get a nasty letter from a very big club advising that "never again will we deal with your company".
It seems the order placed in October 2009 has finally arrived this week with problems a plenty. Wrong sizes/numbers and when asked to fix the problem in a couple of weeks before season starts, they got told, can't do it!
It's probably reasonable to expect that in 6 months, they could at least get it right or if not, maybe they shouldn't be in business.
When asked to redo a few jumpers to get club out of trouble they got told, minimum we'll do is 12.

Ah,the beauty of having a choice, you normally only get bitten once, unless of course you are a 'glutten for punishment'!

Interesting to note at the SAAFL launch last night, some signage from one supplier stated they were "the preferred supplier" to a couple of particular country leagues, problem is those leagues know nothing about it.

The YPFL & KNTFL have no such agreement in place, so maybe this is just another case of mass confusion created by the "preferred supplier arrangement" and either a clever play on words or a deliberate attempt to mislead people by this supplier.

I guess this just adds to some of the 'deceit' that surrounds this whole debacle.
