It has been sorted but not in favour of South Adelaide. The Other 8 Clubs are picking up the tab for a new set of jumpers........

Why the other 8 clubs?

i think that this is crazy, south have gone out and done the right thing and got them a good sponsor which is going to give them a good amount of money and now the sanfl says that you cant have the sponsor because coca cola are a sponsor. all clubs need the sponsorship money where they can get it so they can survive in this competition.

Good call Kookas.
Wonder how this differs from a few years back when Eagles, South and Glenelg were all being sponsored by Villi's even though the league seemed to have a deal with Balfours that saw them have their logo on all of those Show Your True Colours hats.
Trust the process.

Just a quick one...

South deserved the two points today, they were a much better team for most of the day and I think if the Panthers had finished the match with a 4-5 goal win that would have reflected their dominance at times. There were large moments when both teams were just arm wrestling, playing scrappy, less than decisive football, but South applied great pressure throughout the day and really stopped us from getting a run.

It was only in the last quarter that I saw the Sturt of 2009, when they put together good handballs amongst some free flowing runs to really put South under the kosh and get some goals. So while it always feels a bit empty walking away with just a draw, in this particular match, on reflection, I think this is a point Sturt salvaged and point South lost, so kudos to the Panthers, a great first up game.

Pfffft! Dumb comment of the round. It's always sloppy in round one and we're not an elite comp anymore. We're never goin to have 36 silky skilled players per game.
I've been to 3 games this round and to me the standard has been as good if not better then last year. Especially Glenelg. They looked very slick to me. Hopefully they win the May premiership again and peak too early ;)

I can only call it as I see it. I thought it was an amature league game on TV.

Ess Pee Ewing

Said to a mate of mine who's a South supporter that we might be underdone adding to that we've come from the NT. Plus the fact that South might be raring to go at home under a new coach....hence had 20 the win on South H2H @$9. Also picked South in the footy tips.

Felt like a loss :?

Certainly some encouraging signs, with the tackling pressure and commitment similair to the early matches under Cahill. 31 points up early in the 2nd, i felt as though we had our chances to push the lead out to 6 or 7 goals, but they went astray and once Sturt got within 2 or 3 they were always going to be hard to hold off.

A couple of key errors in the final 10 minutes hurt (young Whitford not registering a least a point with his shot from the pocket, and a blunder from a kick-out which resulted in a behind to Chambers), while you'd back Warren most times to nail that final shot.

Cockshell was good in ruck, drifting forward to kick a couple, Perry played his best league game, Liddle had plently of it and will be a player, Horne provided good run from the back-lines, Murphy did some nice things in the guts, while Crabb kept Chambers pretty well maintained.

Sheedy probably the best for Sturt.

Lastly, I'm not sure about the "voice over" after goals. I was waiting for Fuller to call a time-out, or for Sturt to take a trip to the 'charity stripe' (oh wait..they did)

1 crappy game and the whole SANFL standard has dropped. Surely you see why it's a dumb comment.

Personally think that any suggestion that the standard has dropped, based on this game, is premature*. Looked more a case of blowing out a few cobwebs with the first game of the year for premiership points, than any standard dropping.

Stayed back for presentations, Ron Fuller rightly said that the club was learning that accepting good efforts that didn't win the game, was not going to take them forward and looking around the room, the players certainly were hurting from the result.

The crowd was 2626, but looked to be more at times - certainly very vocal for both groups of supporters. In general, also, the umpires really let it flow and only paid the blatant frees on the day, allowing contested footy that probably would have been hit with frees and 50's in the AFL at times.
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

Yes UK Fan, Sturt's first up performance was pretty ordinary considering the opposition was last years bottom club. Unlike Central who played a powerhouse of the competition, at home no less, and got up in a canter by the massive margin of 11 points.....

Oh, hang on, it was Port Magpies, the crisis club and many pundits tip to battle it out with the Panthers for this years spoon, that the mighty CDFC 'thrashed' by less than two straight kicks on their home deck, forgive me.

It's round one, it's March & it's a marathon, not a sprint. Of course you have been following Centrals for a lifetime (well probably since 2000 actually) so I am not telling you anything you don't, as one of safooty's true football officiandos, already know. Again forgive me.
