Frees kicks were West 31, North 28, according to Phil Aspinall on 5RPH after the game.

west = top
north = 8th
but it is only round 1

what price can I have North finishing top 3?

Well done Westies, should have won by a lot more.
I thought there was about 4k there, the lights were better than Elizabeth around the flanks, not in the middle though, ironically the parts of the ground North play were well lit up, we'd be better off if they were pitch black.
he he, I had fun after the game, my son was very proud of me. One ex Glenelg coach made to look very silly! he he

West were by far the better team on the night. Dominated in every aspect of the game. Was very impressed at their skills and hardness at the footy.

As expected, both teams got numbers behind the footy when not in possesion, but West cut North apart by working harder going forward.

As for North, well they can't play much worse than that. Elstone might wish he was back at Port.

I know its early on but it was simply disgraceful, the only umpire out of the 3 that let the play go on was Richard Williams!
My 10 yo son asked me why the umpires blow the whistle every play even when there's no decision to be made when the AFL lets it go, he simply couldn't understand it.
They dont allow bumps, if one player is on the ground and another player runs into them they give a player to the player that runs into them, the umpiring at SANFL level goes against everything kids are taught.
I had no answer.
There was some absolute shockers that made no sense whatsoever, it was simply a guessfest.
Don't get me wrong, it didn't favour either side, West were a 20 goal better side tonight if they'd kicked straight but most of the umpires are helping ruin the SANFL.
It was clear tonight why Richard Williams was still out there as he was the only umpire that had any feel or understanding of the game out there whatsoever tonight.
The SANFLs standard is so poor its bad enough so the umpires have got to learn to let it go if in any doubt just for the sake of making it half acceptable to watch.
The saddest part of the night was we also got to watch the last quarter of the Geelong v Essendon game where the umpires let the players play.
Good luck in getting kids or anyone to SANFL games if you keep the current crap standard/direction up.

PS Dont get me wrong though, as bad as 2 umpires were, they were still better at their job than any North player tonight.

Was a great night.
I thought the lights were good but I can't really compare to any others as that is the only sanfl night game I've seen except for the Adelaide oval and you can't really compare to that!

Crowd was good, was fairly quiet though.

Lights were good, except it looked a little dark in the middle.

West did all the basics of footy well, such as getting numbers at the ball, crumbing at the fall of the ball, etc.

North didn't display any of the basics of footy. They were woeful.

Despite not being a normal crowd for West (and despite disputing the "official" crowd figure) I thought West did a fantastic job of catering for the crowd tonight, showed some foresight, had heaps of staff on, I know I got well fed and well nourished with alcohol.
It was an exceptionally professional effort and my full congratulations go to the WAFC and especially those who put the catering together for tonight, I have no doubt my club would have stuffed it up and probably most others.
It was easily the best catered 4k+ crowd at a SANFL match I've been at for a hell of a long time.
Thanks for the ball after the game too! :D

Crowd was 6,133

Fisher and Ezard 24 possessions each, Schmidt and Ferguson 21 each
Ezard 9 tackles.

James Allan 35 possessions

Hits out WA 42- NA 29 (Lobbe 23)
Frees WA 31, NAFC 28.

Highest crowd at Richmond between West and North since Round 2 1975.
And lowest score by North at Richmond, was 5.7 in Round 4 1961.

highest crowd at Richmond since Rd 3 1990

Apparently there was a dust storm half way through the last quarter as North supporters all left the car park en masse - literally - according to the commentators on 5RPH

Jimmy Allan 35 possessions???? since when are bounces counted as a possession?

Crowd, well it was packed, but 6133 hmmmm ... great atmosphere though.

Well done West. Looked very sharp dodging and dart to open spaces. North looked flat footed and at times did not try to cut off the player.

He kicked 1.7

Ive watched plenty of footy infront of the new scoreboard pocket with no one within a drop punt anywhere near me and last night there were people everywhere. I have no doubt there was 6000 people there. For me other than the footy, one highlight was the number of young people at the game. Half time the oval had plenty of kids running around and there were kids everywhere. We dont really see that at Richmond very often, its normally the same faces just about every week.

The back six were fantastic last night and will only improve. Really like Jarrod Silverstor, he will be fantastic for the club this year. Excellent reader of the play and he has only played a small part in one trial game. He was puffing like an old bull a few times out there so his fitness will improve after an injury interupted pre season.

Lights, as others have said were good, especially if you stood on the outer wing in the crowd. They need to be re positioned more towards the centre and get some normal flood lights for the crowd. Grandstand needs the new lights too, but im sure they are coming.

Great start to the year, only round one (when was the last time we won in round one..Spelly?) but its something to get excited about.
