LM, time to drag out your tipping spreadsheet from '09 if you wouldn't mind.

BOSFC v North Haven @ Klemzig
Hectorville v Adelaide Lutheran @ Daly
Brahma Lodge v Rosewater @ Brahma Lodge
Plympton v Elizabeth @ Plympton - match of the round IMO
Hope Valley v Smithfield @ Hope Valley

Hey mate, I'll get it up and running again, I'm off for a couple of weeks so tip away everyone and I'll fix it all up when I return, I plan on not touching a computer in the meantime.
Just a note everyone, just let me now on here or pm if you wish to participate, if you miss a round, you will get the same as the lowest score for that round.

Food work LM, i'm in!

My tips are

Havens
Lutheran
Brahma
Plympton
Valleys

Yeah I'm hungry again too ;)

Haha....damn chubby fingers!! ;)
I'm proud of you fellas. You all kept your head on a swivel, and that's what you gotta do when you find yourself in a vicious cock fight!

Imagine how much money could be saved across all the divisions and spent on other things around the clubs? It's not like we win prizemoney for winning flags, so why invest so much?

Just a thought...

Wont work because Clubs will (or are) just tell everybody they don't pay players and sort out with the sponsors to pay the players directly. And then tell people that, on paper, they don't pay anyone.

The whole exercise is simply silly in my opinion. If you're paying just pay them, who cares. If you can budget for it, then good on you. But the clubs that go out of their way to say they are not paying is a bit childish.

I seem to remember back in the 90's you still werent allowed to pay - interesting to see the Div 1 sides running around back then that werent playing players
Infact I know for a fact that players at Broadview in the late 80's got paid straight after the game cash in an envelope in the change rooms - seems that sponsors paid them directly as if they were caught they would have been kicked out the league

The same reason the salary cap is a joke - cant be policed as the league doesnt have the resources to do it

No, not your idea as silly, just the exercise of clubs, or club representatives, self tyre pumping about the fact that they do not pay players, like its some sort of 'off field victory' that they can put a great side on the park and not pay them. Its insane. Time wasting a plenty. Especially if it turns out that they are paying them, by way of sponsors. In my opinion if you have money in the budget for it, then responsibly go and do it. No big deal.

i think u will find that those stating non payment (LM, duncs and myself) were merely responding to implications they were and it seems people like to throw it out there early just in case you have a good year so the old so how much did that flag cost ya can come out proudly hehe ,for what its worth teams without juniors have to i think to progress up the div's and i dont see a problem whether you do or dont pay as long as you have a club structure that can support it and not destroy clubs as we have all seen in the past

Many of the statements regarding the lack of player payments at a club are defensive ones, but they come from being accused of paying, like it's a crime to give your players any form of remuneration.

No-one's perfect, but it's hard to see what a person gains by implying that someone's a liar, when their (player payment) info is unreliable and/or second/third-hand.

Fair call. I just think it would be refreshing to hear a club say 'yeah we pay players, big deal'. Instead of all this garbage that we read on here and hear throught he grape vine.

The most important point here i think is the reason that most people don't believe there are clubs that aren't paying, is because there are definately clubs that are paying and they are saying that they are not. Makes it hard for those that actually don't pay to say they don't. having said that, does it make the club a better club if they don't pay? or for that matter if they do pay?

There are arguments for each. But my opinion is who cares! Whatever your doing, just do it, but DONT LIE ABOUT IT

But its put as 'accused of paying' as if a crime is being comitted. Which it clearly isnt!

If the club has the funds, and feels it can manage it, then i cannot see any issues.

If someone can afford a porche then buy a porche! Its not against the law!

but don't buy a porche and tell everyone its a camry, when its clearly a porche!

S demon you have posted one of the best replys ever on SA footy.net. There are clubs and players around the SAAFL that need to learn that we play for the love of the game and winning a premership with our mates, not for money
