I was going to mention that I could see from my office at work yesterday workmen up on a cherry picker installing the last of the lights.

I recall when the announcement was made about the lights something like 'We believe they will be ready for round 1' was mentioned.

They have all of Wed,Thurs and Friday ( up to a point ) which means they should get them installed.

And then when they are ready to be tested and something doesn't work?
Actually, I dont even know if Norwood's lights have been tested yet.

I would imagine they will illimunate Richmond Oval tonight, to test the lights and then perhaps have the league side train under them. Would be foolish to get them set up and the home team not have had the advantage of training under them.

I'll keep you posted as I look out my window today.

Norwood have trained under their old lights in the last decade and hasnt helped them come game time. :(

Just 3 days out from the match and the lights just got on the poles?

Work at Norwood oval had to wait til baseball finished, hence why they were happy to fore-go the season opener. At Richmond they had the whole off-season to get the work done and the lights (only 300 lux mind you) are still not ready? Why is it so last minute?

Not having a go at Westies, its probably out of their control, or was it? Maybe whoever was contracted to do the work should not receive full payment as surely they over-stepped the deadline.

It's out of the club's control I think. It's essentially a council project and so work wouldn't have been able to commence until it passed through council. They believed the work could be completed in time for round one and hopefully they're proven right.

How do you know? Will there be doctors on the turnstiles, performing free medicals upon entry* to the ground?

Let me rephrase. A respectable crowd....no, that wont work. A better than average.......hhmmmmm. A crowd of people.......see that is debatable also.

Wowsers - $360k for 500 lux and 4 new light towers at Norwood, yet $740k for 300 lux and new light towers (I presume) at Richmond?

I'm only guessing but maybe the difference is explained by the existing lighting infrastructure at Norwood, i.e. the transformer, underground cabling etc, none of which existed at Richmond.

I was told today that they are actually better than Norwoods, they have 3 settings. One for training, one for matches and a third incase TV coverage is needed for something.

Here's a few more details - eg $89k for ETSA upgrades and I also note that $50k was being contributed by Adelaide Airport Ltd and potentially the AFL. No details on lux however.

I have also heard the westies lights will cost 36K every 4 years to be replaced.

There's a bit of 'mine's bigger then yours' going on with these light. Maybe me and UK Fan should start up the whose banner was bigger at the GF talk ;) .
I'm sure we'll make our own decisions once we visit both grounds under lights.
One thing i'd have to say is West's seem to point straight to the pockets so hopefully they are tilt adjustable as it will be a bit dark in the middle if they aren't.

I wasnt trying to say "mine is bigger than his", just what someone from the club mentioned to me today. He said at full power it would be like the middle of a sunny day. Maybe West and Norwood are using different types of lights?
