I'm heading down with a heap of mates from Berri. Will be a big road trip there on the gas. Looking forward to it. I'll be the pissed minda standing next to the booth with the shortest line up.

southern end should be open but carpark is run by the council
milner road gates open but carpark for members
south road gate will be closed has been for a couple years now
gates are now maned by the sanfl redcoats
so no need to have a go at westies for not opening all the gates

Not having a go, in fact I assume they'd be closely liaising with the SANFL and will pull it off.*
Im glad the southern end should be open, when it wasn't last year it was a real inconvenience and with a big crowd only having Milner Rd open would be chaos and a hell of a walk for some.
I'm just glad I know someon at the great BBQ so I can get a feed! :D

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet but the lights weren't able to be turned on tonight for the U16's game. They finished the game in really dark conditions.
Apparently ETSA wouldn't allow them to be switched on for some reason.
Anyone close to Westies that can enlighten (no pun intended) us?

the last lot of lights only got on the light pole near the old scoreboard at the start of the game so that had no way of testing them i reckon.

This is going to be a disaster. Move the game too Saturday afternoon. Have a night game later in the year, when everything is 100%.

Maybe we get some cars to park around the ground and turn the high beam on like they did in the old days ;)

In all seriousness, I'm sure the Bloods and ETSA will get it sorted and it will be all systems go for Friday night.

Dont know who is to blame here but this is a joke.

Just 3 days out from the match and the lights just got on the poles?

Work at Norwood oval had to wait til baseball finished, hence why they were happy to fore-go the season opener. At Richmond they had the whole off-season to get the work done and the lights (only 300 lux mind you) are still not ready? Why is it so last minute?

Not having a go at Westies, its probably out of their control, or was it? Maybe whoever was contracted to do the work should not receive full payment as surely they over-stepped the deadline.

Was supposed to be finished last thursday. Can't think of too much extreme weather that could have pushed it this far over the date, so it is a worry.

As HBT mentioned, the old lights at Norwood were 340 lux and it seemed a bit dark last Friday night. The new ones are at least 500 lux. The new ones at Richmond are 300 lux, so 5000 torches should just about cover that ;)

As I said a while ago, the SANFL is heading towards being a night competition with all the clubs with existing lights - or in the queue for lights - these days - Norwood and Central already, West coming on line, Thebarton and Glenelg in the mix too as well as Adelaide Oval when it is available again. Only Sturt, South, Port and North to light up yet - and I'm surprised North hasn't yet will their bank account. Residents maybe?

By the way - does anyone know how much the lights at Richmond were costing in total? The new ones at the Parade were $360k.
