Well, in the Salisbury West v Braham Lodge semi, I would've liked to have seen Browny bowl some off spin. Toss em up mate !

In our semi, Central United looked as though they had planned to smash their way to a big total, they were 0/10 after 2 overs with C.Nuske looking very aggressive.
A steady trickle of wickets saw them slump to 4/39 after 16 overs, they still had a couple of decent batsmen at the crease and began to look like re-building when J.Nuske tried to belt Scott Moss out of the park and got caught, 2 balls later Dowden was out and the Units were 6/56.
At 9/73, a very small total was on the cards, to their credit, Liddicoat showed strong resistance with Woodward until Liddicoat was caught behind with the score on 110, giving Bateson his 7th wicket and Woodward was left stranded on 13 including a big 6 that hit the coaches box on the full.
After 4 balls we were 1/0, and before we knew it we were 3/29 with Morris & McMillan back in the shed, Hannun and Taylor then put on 45 before Hannun was stumped for 29. Taylor was batting well beyond his years and was very composed until we had two runs to win and got out trying to hit another 6, he ended up with 42 as we then passed the score with 5 wickets down.
We went an over and a bit overtime on day one to save everyone having to come back the next day. Dave Ritzema bowled superbly picking up 2/21 off of 12 overs.
It is a credit to both teams, the Units finished 7th last season in Grade 2 and we finished bottom, both have young squads and the Units played some great cricket throughout the year. Hopefully they all stick together and keep moving in the right direction.

the oth v rosies grade 1 game was a cracker for the spectators, everyone was on the edge of their seats. oth only defending 110 but really fought hard right till the end. Rosies started the day at 2/40. Hanisch took oth's 3rd early in the day and Troy Scott bowled sensationally from the other end most of the day. He took 3 more quick ones after taking the 2 on sat to remove cook, morton and jenner.

rosies were 6/56 and oth were a real shot. Feltus and figallo were at the crease and put on 20 before figallo ran feltus out by half a pitch and the game was back on. Kent came out slapping and hit probably 15 before hitting a sky ball which gave scott his 6th wicket.

figallo didnt really give us a chance, a few lbw shouts that could have gone either way, figallo hitting 20 off 40 overs i think. pretty patient innings. Rosies got the winning runs with a wide lol.

should be an interesting final, especially if figallo can win the toss and bowl first again which i am 100% sure they will. Rosies batting does look pretty shakey tho.

I agree Smithy, i feel Rosies need to bowl first, and get Micky Feltus bowling quick! Russell with his good line and lengths will produce the wickets at the other end from impatient Westies batting...

I dont feel R&C could set a total, and would be much better chasing. Brookes, Morton, Harrison all need to bat patient and be able to set the game up...

Hey mate, I thought Troy was bowling very well, he was bowling yorkers to Russell but not to the number 10, could've really done with throwing a few in. A bit disappointing in the end to lose with two extras in the dying stages.
Nevertheless it was a great display of "never say die" cricket, runs on the board are paramount in this game and even small totals can seem so far away. I thought your fielding was sensational.

If there was a "most improved player of the decade" award in the PDCA, Russell would win this hands down.

we do pride our selves on our fielding, its been up to scratch all year, with a young team as well you have no excuses (not saying you older blokes cant field but it does get harder and harder as the years go by) Its never good giving away the winning runs with an extra but cant really fault Troy, he gave us a real shot with 6/33 off 20 overs. He cant barely walk after the last over. he was nearly a late withdrawal as well lol.

I recall playing against him early on in the 2000's, he was pretty young though, to be opening the bowling and the batting for a strong A grade side is an absolute credit to him. He has an excellent attitude to go with it.
