My Biggest Dilema

Postby whufc » Mon Mar 22, 2010 12:22 pm

Ok heres the story,

Its the year 2000, Central District have just beaten WWT in an extremly close second semi final, everyone is going nuts including myself, we end up leaving the ground doing nothing but singing UDOGS at the top of lungs for the next half hour.
Eventually we get home when i realise that through my excitment i have lost my 10 year old scarfe (went to every central game through the 90's), it fell off somewhere at Football Park, there is absolutley no chance of getting it back. As GF week wears on i give up all hope of getting my scarfe back, so i decide to my annoiance to go out a buy a new scarfe.
I proudly wear my new scarfe to the 2000 GF we win and go onto to breaking many records in the most succesfull decade of SANFL football ever seen.
Now the problem, i still have this scarfe and recently wore it to the Crows vs Demons game at the Ponderossa a few weeks ago. It absolutley poured down the scarfe got extremly soaked. With the real football season approaching i remember where my scarfe is, i get it out and it stinks, i mean seriously stinks, people twenty meters can smell this thing. The scarfe has never ever been washed before.

DO I WASH MY SCARFE!

I can't believe you're worried it stinks. All doggies supporters stink, so this should not be a problem.

I've had my Magpies scarfe since I was 5 (1972) and it's never been washed. It doesn't need it, it gets aired on a regular basis. :D

I face a similar dilemma with my flag - I bought it in 2000 (the Port game at Adelaide Oval where we won by 90+ points and Port didn't kick a goal until the third quarter). However, it has suffered a great deal of wear and tear. I've been threatening to replace it for a couple of years but the club doesn't have any decent sized flags.

It's now pretty much in a state of disrepair but I don't know if I should tack it back up for another year.

Just go away will ya. I am sick to death of you Bulldogs supporters bringing all your bloody premierships into the discussion one way or the other  ;)

What I find disturbing is all these people who don't wash an item of clothing.

Does your neck sweat at all??

Do you wear the same un-washed jocks at every game?

Im not sure my footy scarfe is an item of clothing? It gets worn once a week for about 20 or so weeks a year. As for comparing a scarfe to jocks.....well. :?

Do Centrals fans even have the facilities to wash?
Don't most of them live in dilapidated shanties?

When I was a kid growing up, marbles were pretty popular and I had this 'lucky marble' that was a little white 'cats eye' with red and blue flicks of colour through it. I always used to win with it and I convinced myself it was my lucky charm.

Based on this, it was my lucky charm I took with me for the SANFL GF's in the mid to late 90's. Needless to say, Central lost those first 2 Premiership deciders but I still stuck to the lucky charm and continued to take it with me to all games, especially the finals thereafter.

Low and behold it proved a charm in 2000 and I thought I was on a winner !!!

Then we backed up in 2001 and 12 months later the 'marble' let me down when we lost to Sturt. Central then had their maginificent 3 in a row run from 2003 through 2005 which in my mind was all attributed to by my marble !!

Then I lost the bloody thing moving house and the Doggies went down in 2006 so I blamed the marble and thought that the Central District Football Club were doomed to never win another flag.

What more can I say other than the marble was in my thoughts in 2007, 2008 and last year and seemed to work but at the end of the day, it didn't really matter that I didn't have it, the same as it doesn't matter, nor will make nay difference, if you wash your scarfe mate !!

But if you don't feel right washing it, don't do it ;)
