James Miekeljohn will be appointed captain tonight.

Any thoughts?

Miekeljohn is behind the cause for 2010 and beyond, don't worry about that!

Having said that, I'd prefer Summerton, Slattery or Lokan to be captain.

Lokan? WTF , he will be at Port Districts by mid-season.

I would have given the captaincy to Dolling.

We hear enough of that rubbish from opposition supporters. I don't get it? M Lokan has been consistently good for the past few seasons. His main attribute is reading the play and using to ball to good effect, as demonstrated against the Bays on Saturday.

That said, I hope the club makes the announcement early enough for an interview of 5AA tonight.

Agreed.

I like the way he goes about his footy, he is hard at it and has real aggression.

He reminds me of the Port players we were so used to from the 90's, in fact, I reckon he would have fitted in well in their side back in that era, he's that type of player.

Dolling is a good example of what we need. I am not sure about his off field antics though, this may have gone against him

If fit, Lokan will play every game in the League this year.

Haven't seen much of Dolling. Is he a Wilbur type?

Cant compare anyone to Wilbur, but Froggy doesnt mind getting his hands dirty. He will act as a leader with his actions but Im not sure he is captaincy material.

Dolling is very hard running, a good user of the football and very good in traffic (as shown on the weekend), but I doubt he would be a good captain. Miklejohn or Summerton are the two standard out leaders.

I agree - NOBODY can ever live up to the great Wilbur. It's not the same without him!

While its way too early for him (18 games), if he stays at the club (not drafted), I would not be at all surprised to see Zane Kirkwood get the job at some stage in his career. Plays the "old style Magpie" game to the letter.

Trains and works as hard as anyone in games, so would gain the respect of the playing group very quickly

Why don't you suggest every EP player on Port's list. The boy is barely 21 and is a Fringe league player at this point in time
