agreed wedgie, both sides with some star players out, good lead into the season proper, good to see North didnt have a 2nd half fade out this week, obviously the coaching panel putting things into place for round 1

The game itself was very tight (and at times a bit ugly) all day with North having the biggest lead of the day of 20 points half way through the last quarter.

We showed glimpses of our best -fighting to win a loose ball at times, some great open goals, and a couple of gems from outside 50.

We also showed glimpses of our worst - several kicks went straight to North players.

The last 10 minutes was the best we've played all pre-season, 5 unanswered goals to give us the best form going into the season proper
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

Heath couldn't play any of the trials, due to important prior committments, therefore will definitely not play 1st round, may miss the 1st two.

Dogs would be pleased with todays hitout considering the lack of Senior players out there. (Gowans x 2, Thomas, Mackenzie, Cochrane, Lawry, Callinan, Schell. O'Sullivan) Thought Switala, who captained the side, was very good - along with Williams who seemed to play on the ball for most of the game. M Westhoff is not far off being a super star in this comp if he can just put it all together. Personally I would play him at the goal front and make him demand the ball. Spurr also very good along with Goodrem, and Big Phil will be pleased with Ash Duncan who worked himself into the game well. Nash & Henderson looked ordinary early but both ended up having an impact in the second half. Good to see Havelberg back - adding some quality big man presence.
Habel impressed me & may have secured a round 1 spot with his effort. Not sure about Frail at the goal front - but still early days for this lad.
For North, I was impressed with No. 17 (sorry -didnt have a team sheet) and D White was solid in defence. Gill exploded into the game in the 1st 10-15 mins but errant kicking again let him down. D Motlop was like the big kid in the mini league, trying to do it all himself, but showed a couple of moments of class.
Expect both of these teams to be top 3.
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

Here some scores, goal kickers and better players from the 2 games at Elizabeth today. Couldn’t get all the scorers from the reserves, was calling stats for the Doggies side.

RESERVES FINAL SCORES:

NORTH: 3.5 - 10.6 - 15.10 - 19.13 = 127

CENTRAL: 2.2 - 3.3 - 6.6 - 7.8 = 50

Result: North by 77 points

Heath Younie kicked 3 goals and looked a class above this level while young indigenous talent Jerry Wilsen kicked 4 impressive majors. Former Redleg Steve Pollock was impressive up forward and in the ruck for the Roosters while Kriston Thompson was also very good. High credentialed ACT recruit James Bennett was also very good for North playing on the ball.

For the Dogs, young Caleb Edmead impressed with 3 goals and the White brothers, Nick and Matt were very good in defence. Richie Cochrane played the opening half in his first game of the season after more hamstring issues while Ashley Fry was one of Central’s better players. Good to see Chris Musolino back with the Dogs and he was also pretty impressive as well.

Before I do sign off, for North fans that weren't there, Rhys Archard only played the opening half and had 15 disposals, 6 marks, 1 insiude 50 and kicked a point.

Yeah I understand quite a few North players were rested in the 2nd half especially in the last quarter and a few ressies players were brought back on.

Henderson kicked 6. According to Glenelg supporters, he is supposed to be a dud.

Sounds more likely to be Donnelly they were referring to than Henderson.
